About the position

Join a diverse and passionate team of designers, product managers, engineers, marketers, and editors to help shape a product loved by millions of readers around the world. You will have the opportunity to help solve interesting design problems, learn about and participate in a collaborative design process, and apply your creativity to a wide range of projects.

Here’s an example of what someone can expect to accomplish in their first year in the position:

  • Play a central role in refreshing and evolving BookBub’s brand identity as we broaden our value proposition to appeal to even more readers
  • Work closely with the marketing team to help grow our member base by crafting digital campaigns and landing pages that effectively and elegantly communicate BookBub’s value
  • Collaborate with business development to ensure that we shine at industry events by helping design our expo booths, as well as digital presentations and print collateral for our publishing partners
  • Collaborate with other designers and a team of product managers to help define, design, and prototype new product features, craft new email, and conduct research to help evaluate usability and effectiveness of our products and campaigns

Ideal candidates for this position will:

  • Be energized by a startup environment in which the company is iterating quickly, and priorities and direction may change frequently
  • Be data-driven and strive to improve their design based on metrics, analytics, and research, but also regularly solicit feedback from colleagues
  • Value autonomy, be a self-starter, and appreciate the flexibility and opportunity this affords
  • Believe communicating and selling design are just as important as its creation, but also operate on the conviction that it can always be improved
  • Have a portfolio of representative work in graphic design (can include professional and/or personal projects), and be proficient in the Adobe Creative Suite, as well as a number of other graphic design and prototyping tools (Sketch, InVision, Framer, etc.)
  • Have demonstrated experience in crafting compelling brand identities, including logos/wordmarks, color palettes, typography, voice & tone, etc.

  • A resume screen and introductory phone/video chat
  • A take-home exercise where you’ll have the opportunity to demonstrate your communication and problem-solving skills
  • Additional conversations with your potential future team members, the hiring manager, and People Operations
