Job summary

The Red Hat Consulting team is looking for a Middleware Architect to join us in Madrid, Spain. In this role, you will interact with customers, product managers, system administrators, and developers in order to envision, model and provide initial models and architecture designs that can be built and integrated with Red Hat’s offerings and technologies.

Primary job responsibilities

Ensure customer success with Red Hat’s technology through collaboration to identify business and technical requirements of the stakeholders on the project

Deliver subject matter expertise via Red Hat’s offerings and practices, choosing the system architecture and each individual component of this system at a high level

Partner with our Engineering team on first-of-a-kind deployments

Support the Sales team in accelerating emerging technology adoption in our customers and partners

Enable and support our business partners to expand the ecosystem and work on joint projects

Mitigate risks and maximize customer investment in Red Hat’s technology through architectural review and healthcheck engagements

Enable adoption through skill assessment and technical knowledge transfer, supporting value from technology and serving as a main point of contact for the Global Services team

Control the architecture during the next iteration of the system release

Required skills

• Passion for open source software
• Working knowledge of design patterns applicable to modern software development
• Knowledge of SpringBoot, JavaScript Node.JS, Wildfly Swarm, Jakarta EE, or Vert.X
• Experience with Docker or Open Containers Initiative (OCI), Kubernetes, or other container tools; Red Hat OpenShift is a plus
• Experience working with and designing DevSecOps architectures and implementations
• Experience leading successful modern software development projects
• Experience facilitating software design and ideation sessions
• Practical advanced coding skills in multiple languages and environments
• Ability to perform customer-facing activities in a fast-paced environment with short timeframes
• Applied knowledge of working in agile, scrum, and DevOps teams
• Comfortable working with highly distributed teams, including interaction with open source communities
• Significant development and delivery experience with multiple programming languages, including Java
• Experience with design, development, testing, and deployment of large, distributed applications
• Solid object-oriented skills and applied knowledge of software and microservices design patterns
• Applied knowledge of modern software delivery methods like test-driven development (TDD), behavior-driven development (BDD), and continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery or deployment (CD)
• Great written and verbal communication and presentation skills in both Spanish and English
• Ability to study and learn quickly and put new topics into practice
• Willingness to travel to customer locations 25-50% of the time
• Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or a related technical discipline
