About the role In this role you will work with our international teams around the world to ensure expenses, invoicing, financial accounting and reconciliations are carried out accurately and on time. You will be responsible for fixed asset accounting, accruals, prepayments, expense allocations, financial reporting/fluxes, close activities, reconciling general ledger accounts, and participating in special projects within the accounting team. You will be required to frequently liaise with Houzzers from all over the globe, and especially our Finance team in Palo Alto, USA. You will have a finance background and have completed relevant professional training (CIMA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent). Responsibilities
- Prepare and record asset, liability, and expenses entries by compiling and analysing account information
- Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules for our International entities for accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, expense allocations, resolving discrepancies, and other areas..
- In charge of fixed asset accounting, including but not limited to reconciling FA sub-ledger to GL, preparing fixed assets roll-forward schedule, fixed assets inventory reconciliation.
- Involved in the monthly financial close process
- Prepare financial reporting/ fluctuation analysis in the areas of responsibility
- Develop and enforce proper accounting policies, processes and procedures within the department and the Company
- Provides technical guidance to other team members
- Prepare schedules for external auditors for the financial statement audit process and as needed
- Partner with international and cross functional teams on key areas of responsibility
- Escalate issues and recommendations to management as appropriate
- Have good working knowledge of VAT and corporate tax legislation
- Assist in managing the international operations of Houzz
- Assist with other accounting duties and various special projects
Requirements
- Have a bachelors degree, preferably finance related
- Be qualified ACCA/ACA/CIMA (or equivalent)
- Have a track record of industry experience combined with a strong track record of performance in previous roles
- Genuine, practical experience of consistently delivering month end reporting and reconciliations with at least 2-3 years relevant experience required
- High Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel and Word)
- Have experience with NetSuite or similar cloud based accounting software applications and Blackline would be advantageous
- Be willing to take on duties outside of your direct remit – our startup culture and the nature of the team you will be working with demands a positive and proactive approach in this area
- Be able to work to deadlines and multitask, and be tenacious enough to see tasks through to completion
- Have phenomenal attention to detail, be conscientious and thorough with good problem solving ability
