The Quality Assurance Professional will be under the responsibility of the of the Quality Assurance Department in our Watch Center located in Ticino – Southern Switzerland. In close partnership with the QA department, this individual will be responsible for external supplier QA for Jewelry and Watch pieces. The inspector will ensure that the finished product meets all design characteristics and quality attributes including specifications. He/She will be accountable for the completion of all quality administrative tasks related to the outlined product controls.
This Professional will need to travel monthly up to 80% of his/her time both in Europe (Italy /Spain/France and Germany) and US.
Technical Inspection & Data Maintenance
Technical and aesthetic inspection for incoming merchandise and goods according to the standards and specifications
Coordinate and execute jewelry finished good onsite inspections in Italy, France, Germany, and Spain
Inspect merchandise onsite to ensure all products meet Tiffany & Co. standards
Record and publish onsite inspection data in JDEdwards
Draft non-conformity reports for rejected merchandise
Apply all regulatory and product standards at the product and project level
Supplier Relationships & Communication
Closely partner with European vendors to understand their manufacturing & quality capabilities
Build trust with suppliers to solve quality issues in a timely manner
Develop touch base cadence (along with the manager) with suppliers to ensure continue partnership on Tiffany projects, specifically new product launches
Support and coordinate with appropriate internal Tiffany & Co. teams on new product launches when technical inquires arise with suppliers
Ensure appropriate teams receive communicate to keep all parties updated on project status, issues, and staffing challenges with vendors
Communicate and document in meetings through clear consistent and timely project status updates detailing progress, issues/concerns and solutions
Technical Quality Training
Provide training to supplier’s manufacturing and QA staff regarding Tiffany & Co. product requirements and inspection protocol and method
Partner with Strategic Sourcing, Product Development, US QA on educational methodologies and roll outs to ensure proper supplier training
Facilitate supplier trainings to properly skill vendors on new product in partnership with cross functional partners
Specify and coordinate all product testing needs
Ensure all documentation is aligned with project needs and risk evaluations
Required Qualifications
Completion of Gemology Degree or equivalent studies
At least three years quality control experience in the industry sector
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
Ability to work with and without microscopes for very small details
Willing to travel to suppliers and Tiffany & Co facilities (about 75/80%), flexible work schedule
Fluent in Italian and English
Strong Customer Service focus
Meticulous attention to detail and striving for excellence
Preferred Qualifications
French language knowledge will be considered a strong plus
Bachelors or Associates degree
Graduate Gemologist (GIA)
American Society for Quality Certification
Fellowship Gemology Association of Great Britain (FGA)
