Job Description

PURPOSE OF ROLE:The Sr ID for Kobalt Hand & Spec's primary purpose is to design and develop lines of products that align with the branding and design strategy, meet merchandising and business requirements, and are differentiated from competitive national brands. This includes responsibility for applying robust knowledge of the design industry and trends, understanding the product life cycle and associated risks, facilitating a design and development process through production, working across the development group, and, overall, increasing Lowe's competitive advantage, profitability, and market share.RESPONSIBILITY STATEMENTS:• Support the processes and methodologies for the collection and delivery of design research insights.• Synthesizes customer insights to frame key design opportunities.• Engages in prototyping, evaluation, testing, and refinement to ensure targeting solution set is desirable and feasible.• Uses human-centered design methodology to create compelling design solutions.• Creates effective 2D control drawing, 3D CAD and detailed product briefs that direct manufacturing vendors to correctly produce designs.• Works with design team to establish resource needs, deliverables, and deadlines.• Maintains assigned scheduled and produces agreed-upon deliverables.• Coaches and encourages other team members to product high-quality work.• Collaborates with cross-functional internal and external product teams to ensure design vision, intent, and engagement is maintained.REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:• Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design.• 5+ years demonstrated increasing capability in design.• 7+ years experience leading Product Design and Development programs.• 2 years of demonstrated success leading progressively more complex product design programs from concept through production.• 2 years managing increasingly complex relationships inside and outside of an organization.• 2 years of experience coaching other designers or engineers through the design and development process.• 2 years demonstrated ability communicating effectively visually and verbally.• 2 years demonstrated functional knowledge in technologies and manufacturing of durable hard goods.PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:• 2 years of prototyping products to varying levels of fidelity.• 5 years of experience designing in 3D (product design, environmental design, architecture) with a working knowledge of related 3D software (e.g., Solidworks).ABOUT LOWE'S:Lowe’s Companies, Inc.
