Senior SQL Server DBA - Special Operations Forces - Lexington, KY

Description:This position is for an experienced Microsoft SQL Server DBA working for Lockheed Martin (LM) Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) supporting the SOF-GLSS program in Lexington, KY.
The successful candidate will join a team of database administrators maintaining a total landscape of Oracle, SQL Server and HANA databases, as well as coordinate with the SAP teams and data warehouse analysts. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise for SQL performance and tuning, and maintain smooth operations through high-availability and performance standards. Additional duties include automating database alerts and health-checks into existing system notification tools. The SQL Server DBA will support all SQL environment lifecycle phases including planning, installation, configuration, patching, change-management, tuning, and backup and recovery planning.
This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment where quick ramp-up and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities is expected.
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum of 6 to 8 years of experience in information technology
- Strong database troubleshooting skills dealing with performance tuning, patching, and high-availability of SQL Server systems
- Ability to implement SQL Server data warehousing, table management techniques, including performance tuning, troubleshooting, patching and system maintenance of SQL Server database clusters
- Demonstrated expertise with SQL Server management studio
- Demonstrated subject-matter expertise with SQL backup and recovery methods and tools
- Experience using database trace utilities and trace log-file analysis
- Ability to configure system warnings and monitor metrics to avoid unexpected system outages
- User and role configuration experience with SQL Server databases
- Strong communications and teamworking skills to implement database best-practices and ensure knowledge-sharing as part of a shared database and ERP system landscape
- An understanding of modern operating systems, device and application exploits malware and risks.
- Ability to juggle the demands of multiple diverse customers while complying with CAMP+/SOX and RMF security guidance
- Work location is access-restricted and continued eligibility for this position requires candidate to maintain, at a minimum, a Secret security clearance. Eligibility also requires individual to maintain compliance with DoD 8570.01-m certifications.
Desired Skills:
- Experience or familiarity with HANA database management, data services and Smart Data Access (Data Virtualization) experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Additional experience or familiarity with Oracle or HANA databases,
- Familiarity with SAN administration (NetAPP, EMC, EVA, IBM DS4xxx, etc.)
- Familiarity with VMware, Citrix, Linux, or Windows System Administration
- Security+, CCNA, CISM or other recognized DoDI 8570.01 certification
- Proven effective written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to independently identify and troubleshoot issues
