Job Description

We are looking for a data activation manager to join our Data Governance team. This role requires acute attention to detail, a strong sense of accountability, collaboration, technical understanding and experience managing cross workstream technology initiatives. In this role you will lead many of our strategic data initiatives and be at the forefront of ensuring critical data is ready for stakeholders use across Disney Streaming Services.
At DSS, data is central to measuring all aspects of the business, and critical to its operations and growth. Data Governance works closely with the data engineering, back-end services and front-end technology teams to implement industry leading technology platforms for our products. The Data Activation Manager will work cross functionally to certify when critical data sources can be activated for down-stream consumption playing point between data, product and engineering teams, driving coordination, alignment, road mapping and overall seamless delivery of best-in-class consumer applications.   • 5 years experience in a data driven function and role such as a Product Owner, Project Manager, or Lead Data Analyst diligently applying principles, practices, and theory for backlog and project management
  • 3 years of experience with scaled Agile in a hands-on leadership role (e.g., Release Train Engineer, Agile Program Manager)
  • Experience managing the formulation of methodologies and subsequent application to deliver tangible results
  • Knowledge of other approaches in the Agile space: Kanban, Lean, etc.
  • Good skills and knowledge of leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency.
  • Knowledge of services oriented architecture and development practices, including implantation of analytics and clickstream tracking
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to communication anywhere from the team level to C-level executives.
  • Create key project and requirement documents to enable activation of critical data sources, outlining methodology, technical specifications, roadmaps, objectives, milestones and blockers.
  • Serve as a team lead and representative interfacing directly with developers and project managers across engineering and product.
  • Build strong relationships with partnered engineering teams; running multiple concurrent initiatives with separate stakeholders simultaneously; cultivating relationships across engineering and technical teams while also serving as a end-to-end liaison in the creation of critical data sources
  • Aid in prioritization of required engineering and analytics work for high visibility initiatives and projects and how they related to data priorities across the data science and analytics org.
  • Take Initiative and a proactive approach at finding ways to remove barriers to move a data project forward.
  • Enabling internal clients to access, explore and monitor data, as well as perform analysis and share insights.
  • Outline and implementing sustainable way to lower barriers in accessing data while ensuring adherence to all legal and internal requirements
  • Lead teams in story writing, backlog maintenance and prioritization and planning. Facilitating creation and prioritization of program-level feature and backlogs.
  • Help teams and individuals clarify goals, and actions to achieve them, create strategic plans and decks oriented to deliver overall data sources and goals to all stakeholders.
  • Serve as a data source owner and primary point of contact for product and engineering teams, identifying and resolving roadblocks which could delay project deliverables.
