Role Overview

The Mission Systems Technical Support department consists of a team of electronics technicians, mechanical technicians, and Lab Assistants. We are an engineering support organization that provides technical resources, knowledge, assistance, and support to engineers. We provide expertise and innovative solutions to support the engineering process.

Technical Support (Lab) Manager responsibilities include planning, organizing, administering and leading the activities of a group of approx. 20 electronics technicians, software technicians, and lab assistants. This individual will work with engineers, engineering managers, operations, and peers to provide exceptional technical support to Mission Systems Engineering.

• Candidate should understand and support the concepts necessary for building high performing teams including collaboration, team decision making, problem solving, team roles & responsibilities and customer advocacy.

• Candidate must be able to build strong networks across the enterprise to be able to effectively find and share information and resources.

• Candidate should bring passion, determination and diligence to meeting customer commitments and expectations.

• Responsible for workforce planning to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Oversees selection of future employees, training and development, as well as performance management and evaluation of current employees.

• Candidate will ensures that there are appropriate design tools in place to facilitate appropriate work levels.

• Successful candidate must be knowledgeable of and lead the efforts to adhere to all Collins Aerospace Environmental Safety & Health, Quality and Facilities Operations policies and procedures.

• Candidate is responsible for related engineering lab space footprint and appropriate allocation and for execution and implementation of facility plans, lab design, and capital acquisition plans.

• Successful candidate will partner with customers to develop and administer project schedules, work plans, and performance requirements of lab personnel

• Candidate may be responsible for establishing and assuring adherence to budgets.

Basic Qualifications:

• This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline. In the absence of a degree, 4 years of relevant experience is required.
• This position requires US Citizenship. Must be able to obtain a US Security Clearance.

Preferred:

• Prior technical experience and/or knowledge
• Understanding of the skills and abilities of engineering technicians and lab assistants
