Description

Citi Retail Services provides consumer and commercial credit card products, both private label and co-branded, to retailers and their clients across North America. The business serves nearly 90 million accounts for a number of iconic brands, including Best Buy, ExxonMobil, Macy's, Sears, Shell and The Home Depot. In addition to credit services, Citi Retail Services distinguishes itself by offering cutting-edge digital options, multi-channel retailing expertise and industry-leading analytics capabilities that help retailers grow their businesses.

The CRS Risk Management organization includes dedicated Risk heads for each of the four franchise portfolios (Sears, Macy’s, Best Buy, and the Home Depot) as well as the Specialty Group which includes approximately 20 Fuel and small retailer portfolios. Collectively they manage the Acquisitions and Account Management of portfolios totaling $47B in assets while also helping to ensure that the business deliver favorable financial results to Citi while growing partner sales for all Franchise and Specialty partnerships and decisions more than 25MM new account applications annually.

This role serves as the Head of Risk for one of the portfolios. Responsibilities are to ensure the safety and soundness of the portfolio – balancing risk & rewards to drive profitable growth and ensuring our partners and customers are appropriately and responsibly managed.

The following are the key responsibilities of this position:

  • Managing a team/organization responsible for all risk management activities associated with retail credit portfolio
  • New Account Strategy Development & Non-Scoring Model Validation
  • Account Management Strategy Development & Non-Scoring Model Validation
  • Compliance with Partner Contract SLAs & Management
  • Internal & External Oversight Reviews
  • Partner Relationship Management
  • Operating Committee engagement
  • Meeting/exceeding Partner/Citi P&L and Performance
  • Other Duties as assigned

Relationship and Contract Management:

  • Senior risk contact for Retail Services partnership with responsibility for the health of the relationship(s), developing strong connections to Executive stakeholders and decision makers.
  • Viewed as a trusted advisor, ensuring programs are at leading edge of market relative to competitors.
  • Manage contract negotiations, leveraging GM and Business Development teams, to renew existing relationships
  • In-depth understanding of Retail and Payments industries and competitive environments,
  • Partner with GM and Retail Services’ Centers of Excellence to develop/enhance the Collections, Consumer, Commercial, and Co-brand products.
  • Partner with Operations leadership team to ensure best customer experience while maintaining the robust risk management principles
  • Competitive assessment and benchmark against competitor set for integration of payments solutions including chip technologies, mobile capabilities and digital wallets.

Management and Oversight:

  • Identify opportunities to improve business performance, effectiveness and efficiency through process improvements and talent management.

Job Skills and Qualifications

  • 15+ years of relevant financial services Risk Management experience required
  • Experienced risk manager with knowledge of toolsets including behavior scores, internal and external data sources, data mining / segmentation applications
  • Full knowledge of card product P&L dynamics and the interaction of consumer behaviors, product configuration and market/economic environment
  • Strong analytic skills and deep understanding of the retail partner business model
  • Demonstrated successful in managing risk policy/strategy through the economic cycle and/or in various environments; protecting and growing the business as it enters and exits economic stress
  • Hands on experience with portfolio performance monitoring and diagnostics
  • Education includes demonstrated knowledge in an analytic field including engineering, mathematics, statistics
  • Strong knowledge of the applicable laws and regulations and the current environment which govern our policies and practices
