Splunk’s Marketing Operations Analytics team builds and deploys dashboards and reporting to make data-driven decision marketing a reality for the marketing team.

The ideal candidate will be a critical thinker who is passionate about building and deploying mathematical models for business insights and inferences. He/she/they are also excited to work in a fast-paced environment.

Role:

As the first Data Scientist hire on Marketing Operations Analytics Team, you will be responsible for developing new intelligence around marketing performance through data mining and modeling. You will work closely with Go-To-Marketing sales and marketing operations teams to scientifically frame the business problems and come up with underlying mathematical models.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform exploratory data analysis to gain deeper understanding of buyer journey and customer attributes.
  • Affinity for developing and testing statistical and machine learning models.
  • Write production-quality code to build models and work with IT and marketing teams to deploy them in production dashboards.
  • Sample projects: How can we design the most effective marketing mix for customer acquisition, customer retention and pipeline acceleration? What are the key drivers for customer and prospect engagement? How can we improve our marketing ROI?

Requirements:

  • Outstanding quantitative background: PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Math, Physics or other technical field preferred.
  • Strong understanding of modern machine learning techniques and their mathematical concepts and real world application
  • 3+ years of professional experience in data science or engineering around build and shipping machine learning or statistical models.
  • Self-starter with a passion and curiosity for solving unstructured mathematical problems and ability to manipulate large data sets
  • Expert SQL skills. Ability to code in Python, R or MATLAB
  • Strong visualization skills and experience with BI tools (ex: Tableau, Looker, Domo)
