Role Overview:

This position is for a seasoned Quality Engineering professional who works as an individual contributor to achieve objectives that have a significant impact on their area of responsibility. Supports the business and Quality Management Team as a Quality Management Representative on all aspects of the Quality Management System (QMS) and is responsible for:

  • Ensuring processes needed for the QMS are in place and in compliance and identifying any gaps and any need for improvement;
  • Reporting to management on the performance of the QMS and any gaps and any need for improvement;
  • Coordinating, scheduling, organizing and responding to all QMS audits including first party, second party and third party audits and performs product and process audits and quality audits and reviews as required;
  • Interfacing with and supporting QMS requirements to/from customers, certification bodies, corporate, central/enterprise quality, functional leaders, quality leaders and others as required; and
  • Ensuring the promotion of awareness of quality and compliance requirements from the company, customer, industry and regulatory agencies throughout the organization.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Works with the Quality Management team and others to ensure maintenance and compliance to ISO 9001 and AS9100 requirements and certifications
  • Prepares and maintains Quality documentation for the QMS for the Quality Department and coordinates QMS activities and updates with the functional processes owners to ensure that the company's products are in compliance with quality standards, continually improving the company’s procedures, conducting and supporting periodic audits and training of staff
  • Conducts quality compliance audit processes and recommends corrective actions and process improvements in response to audit findings
  • Coordinates and facilitates QMS Management reviews with the Quality Management team, process owners and others as required.
  • Reviews quality data and determines if all products and processes are aligned with and in compliance with company, customer, industry and regulatory requirements and standards. Recommends corrective actions and process improvement/best practices.
  • May managed Quality Engineering processes and/or projects. Uses experience and knowledge to influence the development, modification, application, and maintenance, or quality evaluation, control systems, and protocols.
  • Develops, modifies, applies, and maintains quality evaluation, control systems and protocols
  • Provides analysis and explanations of testing and inspection plans, methods and technologies to assure reliability and conformance of products and processes
  • Analyzes and makes recommendations for corrective actions for nonconformities and/or design problems for internally produced products & processes
  • Utilizes UPPAP core elements (e.g. PFMEA, MSA, Process Flow and Control Plans, etc.) to identify and make recommendations for managing risk in product development
  • Manages processes to ensure all requirements are met for work transfer and process change management including Resourcing Gate and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) acceptance
  • Reviews process control documentation to ensure it is in compliance with requirements, objectives, and/or contracts
  • Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation, control systems and protocols for materials being processed into partially finished or finished products
  • Working with product design and specification, devises testing plans, methods and equipment to assure reliability of product Collaborates internally to ensure quality standards are in effect.
  • Ensures that projects and process control documentation are compliant with requirements, objectives and/or contracts.
  • Identifies and manages risk in product development primarily utilizing and driving UPPAP core elements (e.g. PFMEA, MSA, Process Flow and Control Plans, etc.)
  • Develops proactive quality initiative strategies and drives their implementation
  • Performs Escape management procedures, root cause analysis, and recommends corrective action for design problems for internally produced products & processes
  • Ensures all requirements are met for work transfer and process change management including Resourcing Gate and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) acceptance
  • Designs and implements product engineering changes to satisfy quality issues raised by customers.
    Reviews and makes recommendations for procedures and metrics that support compliance with industry and regulatory standards
  • Influences others throughout the organization through explanation of policies, government regulations, and agency guidelines to ensure compliance with external standards
  • Uses minimum standards, tools, and methods to ensure the effectiveness of existing quality processes and sustain quality performance improvements
  • Analyzes procedures and metrics that impact quality to develop recommendations for improving compliance with internal standards
  • Reviews contractually required documentation for accuracy and completeness
  • Reviews quality control requirements with customer representative assuring compliance with requirements; works with customer quality control representatives to coordinate inspection and acceptance activities
  • Analyze data, prepare reports and make recommendations to the Senior Management team about process/improvements, process controls, data analysis, continuous improvement and corrective/preventive actions

Basic Qualifications:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 3 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required.
