Job summary

The Red Hat User Experience Design (UXD) team is looking for a Senior UX Designer with practical frontend development capabilities to join us in Beijing, China. In this role, you will work on our middleware portfolio. You will solve interesting UX, usability, and design problems with elegant solutions in English copy, wireframes, HTML, CSS, and some JavaScript, using our PatternFly design system. You'll conceptualize, develop, and maintain features that will ensure that the project is intuitive and easy to use while also maintaining consistency across the Red Hat portfolio. As a Senior UX Designer, you’ll need to have prior experience with complex enterprise applications that are highly technical in nature.

Primary job responsibilities

• Clearly understand and articulate the information architecture, workflows, and processes surrounding the user experience of our offerings
• Use our PatternFly design system for building design flows; identify gaps in the design system for contributing back to help it meet all business needs
• Work closely with researchers to validate design direction
• Write clean, responsive, and accessible HTML and CSS code
• Develop UIs with attention to design detail, ensuring exceptional UX through implementation of subtle interactions and affordances
• Actively participate in the end-to-end design process from brainstorming to design reviews and iteration of UI improvement

Required skills

• Highly motivated, experienced professional focused on creating an energized environment that enables innovation
• Adaptable to changing conditions and unexpected obstacles, modifying work methods in response to new information to accomplish organizational goals
• Extensive experience building web applications using HTML 5 and CSS, LESS, and SASS
• Understanding of modern CSS development techniques like BEM, Object Oriented CSS (OOCSS), or Atomic design
• Ability to create robust web applications from visual concepts, wireframes, and interactive product design sessions
• Great communication and collaboration skills; solid attention to detail
• Bachelor's degree or higher in interaction design, visual design, human computer interaction, human factors, computer science, or a closely related area
• Previous experience with React.js is a plus
• Experience with agile development and open source projects is a plus
