Your Opportunity

Schwab is seeking intelligent, passionate and driven individuals to join the ranks of the Finance Technology solution delivery team. The candidate will be expected to deliver high-quality technology planning, installation, administration and tuning in support of a broad range of internal clients ranging from Central Finance and Profitability Analysis to Management and Regulatory Reporting, Treasury and Risk.

The Staff Systems Administrator is a motivated, self-driven individual, well versed in system configuration, administration, security and troubleshooting with an emphasis on performance monitoring and tuning for high availability.

The role’s main focus centers on interfacing with the TM1 development team, infrastructure partners and project teams to enable analysis, development and deployment of the full range of solutions, leveraging Cognos TM1 among other best-in-class third-party products. The ideal candidate will be service-minded, inquisitive and analytical with demonstrated expertise in gaining agreement for solution proposals, possessing a strong execution orientation with excellent communication skills.

Pre-requisite skills:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of OLAP
  • Demonstrated knowledge of BI functionality
  • Demonstrated knowledge of networking and web-tier architectures
  • Demonstrated knowledge of operating systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relational database technology
  • Familiarity with Finance terminology andconcepts
  • Familiarity with IT terminology and concepts including ITSM and Agile

What you’re good at

  • Installation, configuration, administration and maintenance of business-critical OLAP environment
  • Perform backups and upgrades
  • Set & manage security roles and users
  • Transport package deployments to QA and Production environments
  • Oversee disaster recover planning & testing
  • Troubleshoot by understanding various log messages and in conjunction with peer Infrastructure partners
  • Under general direction, devise or modify procedures to solve complex problems considering Cognos administration and/or cube and report generation and consumption
  • Create and maintain installation documentation and architectural diagrams
  • Modify, install, and prepare technical documentation for Cognos applications
  • Install and maintain upgrades, patches, and hot fixes for Cognos
  • Identify, escalate and document production impact issues for the environment for business notification
  • Coordinate with business user teams for identification and resolution of functionality issues.
  • Resolve incidents, problems and PMRs
  • Research/analyze Cognos administrative functions and Cube and report generation to maintain and increase performance
  • Monitor program execution for expected performance
  • Contribute to and help enforce designs for security, resiliency and scalability focusing on long term solutions.
  • Capitalize on the benefits of new technologies for improved technology management and user experience
  • Co-ordinate within and across IT , Finance and other line of business teams as needed throughout the course of delivery/support
  • Never stop learning and work to become a thought leader in all facets of Finance Business Intelligence
  • Work under pressure and tight deadlines and be flexible to adapt to quickly changing business requirements
  • Develop resources to assist other teams/developers more effectively build BI apps on the enterprise analytic platform
  • Periodic travel required

What you have

  • 5+ years system administration experience in an Enterprise Production environment
  • Windows Task Scheduler, Windows 2012 Administration Server Manager and IIS experience
  • Web Server Configuration experience required preferably experience with IBM Websphere application server (in support of TM1 Web)
  • Experience working in the Cognos TM1 10.2.2 environment and knowledge in administration of Cognos Business Intelligence Suite
  • Functional experience in Finance on major ERP systems like PeopleSoft or SAP
  • SQL experience and familiarity with data warehouse tables and a basic understanding of data warehouse concepts
  • Experience in building platform metrics for managing the Cognos environment using metrics built from the logs
  • Experience in Budgeting and Forecasting, preferably on Cognos Enterprise Planning or related platform.
  • Solid understanding of BI functionality and web-tier architectures.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Science, or Business degree.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and oral/written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and work on multiple tasks simultaneously.

Optional: Experience with IBM SPSS and tools like IBM Command Center, Zenoss and xMatters. IBM Cognos Certified TM1 System Admin a plus
