Role Summary:
This role is part of a software engineering team focused on customer-facing development projects for military or commercial customers. In this role, you will deliver cloud applications in order to fulfill GE Aviation customer requirements. You will be responsible for designing and programming a small module or a large component and designing a feature, set of features, or whole feature area. You can work independently and contribute to the immediate team and to other teams across the business.
Essential Responsibilities:
The Digital Works Software team is responsible for product and service delivery where software engineering support is required. This includes everything from supporting requirements and work scope creation in the pre-sales process to product implementations and the creation of new or custom products, solutions, and services. You will operate in lock-step with customers, sales, product management, project management and data science to define and deliver customer specific outcomes.
- Capture system level requirements by brainstorming with Sr. Architects, Business & Product Managers
- Demonstrate the understanding of Agile software development lifecycle and able to distinguish the core inputs and outputs in each cycle.
- Demonstrate the ability to make informed technology choices after due diligence and impact assessment
- Understand whole product, its modules and the interrelationship between them while being an expert in the assigned component or module
- Skilled in build, release & deployment processes
- Articulate the need for scalability and understand the importance of improving quality through testing.
- Be an expert in writing code that meets standards and delivers the desired functionality using the technology selected for the project
- Drive design reviews, define interfaces between code modules, and applies existing technology to designs
- Be an expert in assessing application performance and optimizing / improving it through design and best coding practices and in core data structures as well as algorithms and has the ability to implement them using language of choice
- Provide development environment using the latest software development technologies and infrastructure

Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in business, computer science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) from an accredited university (Or a high school diploma with a minimum of 4 years of equivalent technical experience)
- A minimum of 5 years of technical experience across disciplines and functions
