General Dynamics Information Technology has an immediate opportunity for an Incident Management Specialist with the following duties and responsibilities included, but not limited to:
- Capture applications baseline performance deviations and implement proactive Splunk monitoring and alerting of production systems
- Leverage monitoring tools (such as Splunk) and capabilities to find root cause for incident and problem management
- Provide Splunk monitoring subject matter expertise and main point of contact for supported applications
- Provide input into strategies, capabilities and integrations to improve the availability and performance run-state of production applications
- Drive operational implementation of monitoring capabilities, dashboards and improvement
- Leverage a predictive analytic approach to identify and mitigate issues before they have material impact to our application consumers
- Identify, recommend and lead performance tuning and monitoring enhancement opportunities
- Experience with synthetic transaction application monitors
- Build and modify new and existing orchestrated monitoring alerts and events
- Monitor day to day operation of large scale computing infrastructure involving 300+ applications
- Determine cause of alarm and take appropriate actions including logging alert, create service ticket and notify stakeholders.
- Initiate and maintain critical incident bridges
- Act as service incident lead for issues including maintaining incident tickets, notification of executive leadership and follow up on resolution
- Assist in triage and incident management with collection and analysis of performance metrics
- Assist development team in deployment activities by executing change requests or tasks maintaining SOX compliance
- Monitor and execute incident and change requests
This program only accepts US citizens and/or Green Card Holders. The security clearance for this program requires the selected candidate to have resided in the US for the past five years. The selected candidate cannot have left the country for longer than 90 consecutive days and no more than 180 cumulative days.
Education
- BA/BS
- High School diploma or equivalent and 6 years additional education and/or related experience to include five years of progressively more difficult systems experience within IT.
Qualifications
- Basic understanding of Windows and UNIX operating systems
- Experience with SOX compliance
- Expert level knowledge of Splunk business and web analytics
- Ability to identify and relay information and symptoms detected by monitoring tools
- Ability to follow detailed instructions or procedures with minor supervision
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing, and over the telephone in English
