Role Overview
This position owns the execution of Supplier Quality & Development operational goals and plans. May lead multiple teams responsible for Supplier Quality & Development for a large organization. Sets direction and leads resources to drive supplier qualification / certification, assessment, monitoring, escape management, and quality issue resolution processes. Provides guidance across the organization to ensure suppliers are capable to meet all requirements.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Owns the execution of Supplier Quality & Development strategy, driving supplier qualification / certification, assessment, monitoring, escape management, and quality issue resolution processes.
• Develops and drives implementation of supplier specific quality initiative strategies.
• Leads Supplier Quality-related activities, such as raw material assessments, design of contracted manufactured items, and materials packaging; ensuring service providers and laboratories employ good manufacturing practices (GMP) and procurement practices meet or exceed requirements.
• Recommends and implements processes or standards in support of the UTC Supplier Gold program to ensure healthy continuous improvement and sustainability.
• Leads Corrective Action Boards/DQ Clinics with suppliers.
• Directs teams responsible for ensuring that supplier is capable to meet all requirements for work transfer and process change management including Resourcing Gate and Production Part Approval Process (UPPAP) acceptance.
• Manages supplier quality issues through monitoring / escalation processes, escape management, processing of supplier submission of non-conforming material and supporting internal MRB processes.
• Initiates part specific quality issue resolution and corrective actions.
• Supports supplier qualification / certification.
• Manages source inspection and material release processes.
• Performs Escape management procedures, drives root cause analysis & problem solving (Red-X & 8D) and recommends corrective and preventive action for systemic process and product design problems for product provided by suppliers.
• Drives Corrective Action Boards/DQ Clinics with suppliers.
• Proactively supports the UTC Supplier Gold program to ensure healthy continuous improvement and sustainability.
• Analyzes quality data to identify systemic issues and develops supplier specific quality initiative strategies and addresses with key proactive quality tools (e.g. PFMEA, MSA, Process Flow and Control Plans, SPC, etc.), driving their implementation.
• Ensures that supplier is capable to meet all requirements for work transfer and process change management including Resourcing Gate and Production Part Approval Process (UPPAP) acceptance.
Basic Qualifications:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 10 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 8 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required.
