Job PurposeThis position creates the strategy and provides the leadership for the group of engineers that assess and manage the integrity of National Grid's take stations, regulator stations, and LNG facility transmission piping. This position develops, directs, and maintains the Integrity Management Program (IMP) in accordance with Federal and State rules and regulations. It also governs and conducts the condition-based asset risk assessment activities that are used to drive capital investment planning activities. The key objective of this position is to ensure that National Grid’s station assets operating at transmission pressure comply with, or exceed, all Federal and State regulatory requirements.
Key AccountabilitiesBachelor’s degree from an ABET-accredited institution, focusing in an engineering discipline or science; with an advanced degree or equivalent or Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred
A minimum of six (6) years’ experience in an engineering/technical role, with relevant industry experience strongly preferred
Demonstrated leadership abilities to direct a group of diverse personnel
Strong presentation skills for an audience of business leads, engineers, and senior management
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and project simultaneously
Ability to gain support of colleagues during meetings, provide decisions, and make recommendations in order to meet company goals for asset integrity and safety
Adapts approach and considers what is important to the audience and tailors messaging accordingly when presenting
Actively builds and maintains a network of relationships, outside normal business contacts.
Takes personal responsibility for correcting problems promptly
Proactively makes changes to improve performance, efficiency and effectiveness of processes
Challenges existing engineering procedures and highlights areas for improvement.
Possesses positive expectations for team members and expresses regard for them.
Is receptive to change and is willing to change ideas or opinions based on new information or contrary evidence.
Experience involving technical analysis and implementation of solution-based sound engineering principles and processes
In-depth knowledge and technical experience of gas pressure regulation equipment and stations
Preferred knowledge of current trends within industry and developments in legislation or regulation related to PHMSA pipeline rules, 49CFR192 DOT pipeline codes, and ASME/ANSIB31.8 code
Preferred knowledge of National Grid’s business operations, company policies and practices
Excellent financial tracking and analysis skills
Must have a valid driver's license with safe driving history; this position requires travel to and from various National Grid facilities in Massachusetts, New York, and Rhode Island
