The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking Senior Industrial Engineering Manager (Level M) to join the team located in Tukwila, WA.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manages employees and mid-level managers performing industrial engineering activities associated with technical development, implementation, analysis and improvement activities throughout the business units.
  • Develops long range strategy and integrated organizational plans, policies and procedures and guides the development of business plans, strategies, goals, and objectives.
  • Acquires and coordinates resources for organizational activities.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with customers, stakeholders, suppliers, peers, partners and direct reports to ensure organizational alignment to business unit strategies and goals.
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes to ensure alignment with business plans and goals.
  • Creates and maintains management system processes within business units.
  • Creates and monitors business unit performance to support strategic planning, execution, and reporting.
  • Manages, develops and motivates employees and mid-level managers.

Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Basic relocation is available for internal candidates.

Export Control:

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications:

  • This position requires the ability to obtain U.S. Security Clearance post start, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • At least 5 years of managerial and leadership experience in Industrial Engineering where you have supported multiple manufacturing product lines.
  • Experience as an industrial engineer, in the aerospace industry.
  • Must possess experience in problem solving and improvement projects.
  • Possess Project Leadership experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and build positive relations with engineering peers, management, and non-engineering support staff
  • Adaptable to change and be a quick learner.
  • Experience implementing continuous process improvement, lean processes, and employee involvement and engagement strategies in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience applying Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), or other similar rigorous problem/analysis/resolution.
  • Must be able to interact with employees to gather data for process improvements. This may include observing and documenting processes, and collecting data in manufacturing areas or in aircraft during various production phases.
  • Ability to travel 10-25% (within the Puget Sound)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an Industrial Engineering role.
  • 10 years of management experience working in a production engineering role or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience applying and implementing lean manufacturing principles in a production system.
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree, ideally Industrial Engineering, ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
  • Preferred candidate will have experience in 6 or more of the following: Process Modeling, Manufacturing Operations Support, Project Management, Lean Manufacturing, Statistical/Trend Analysis, Six Sigma, Capacity Planning, Production/Mfg System Design, Work Methods Analysis/Time Standards, Planning/Constraint Based Scheduling, Ergonomics & Human Factors, Facilities Layout Design, Root Cause Analysis, Inventory Control, Value Stream Analysis.
