The Future Talent Program features internships that last up to 12 weeks and will include one or more projects. These opportunities can provide you with great development and a chance to see if we are the right company for your long-term goals.

The intern assignment will support our Manufacturing Division's Wilson Site Process Improvement and Reliability Engineering team. This group is responsible for providing reliability maintenance engineering support to ensure optimum performance in equipment, systems, documentation and asset utilization. The position is based in Wilson, NC. It is a full-time paid three (3) month intern position.

As a Wilson Packaging Reliability Engineer Intern, you will be exposed to project management, change control, problem resolution and troubleshooting, development & maintenance of records, standards, preventative and predictive maintenance, calibrations and procedural updates.

The candidate selected will have opportunities to gain experience in a wide variety of areas within pharmaceutical packaging. Examples include:

  • Primary and secondary packaging for solid oral dose, oral granules, glass vial, ophthalmic and medical device products
  • Packaging equipment
  • Calibration, preventative and preventative maintenance programs
  • Packaging processes and controls
  • Packaging related documentation and regulations

These activities will also provide the intern with exposure to other departments, cross functional teams, suppliers, etc. through the course of day to day work. The job function includes:

  • A medium project to be completed within the intern block and smaller tasks throughout
  • Experience with site / above site technical groups, suppliers and outside vendors
  • Extensive training in Pharmaceutical Packaging; on-going self-paced e-learning, in person training, and on-the-job training through experience
  • Manager for reporting and evaluation, coach for day-to-day questions, and adequate project work in supporting the whole packaging team
  • There will also be an end of internship presentation to the entire packaging team

Education:

  • Currently pursuing degree in Packaging Science, Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.

Required:

  • Available for full time employment (40 hours per week) for a period of 3 months in the summer of 2020
  • Currently enrolled in an academic program and returning to university following this Intern assignment to complete credit requirements for graduation.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher.

  • Makes sound recommendations to support component consistency, cost effectiveness, and reliability
  • Recognizes opportunities for continuous improvement, anticipates customer needs, identifies and implements solutions
  • Possesses strong technical and problem-solving skills
  • Works well in a team environment, collaborating well with peers
  • Strong project management, problem solving, organizational, technical writing and communication skills.
