Purpose of Job

Directs the development and implementation of strategies that supports maturing USAA's information governance, data quality, information architecture and information asset management capabilities. Establishes and enforces enterprise data policies, standards, practices and processes according to industry best practices. Accountable for the quality of results from work produced by the team.
We are currently seeking a talented Director, Information Governance for the San Antonio Home Office I.

Job Requirements

  • Leads strategic direction for information governance, data quality, information architecture and information asset management capabilities and working with program management community in prioritizing and funding capabilities delivery, as needed.
  • Directs and collaborates with business and IT partners on utilizing information governance, data quality, information architecture and information asset management capabilities in support of achieving business operations and strategic goals and objectives.
  • Provides the leadership, motivation and environment necessary for building high performing teams that collaborate with enterprise stakeholders in defining information governance, data quality, information architecture and information asset management capabilities that supports business needs.
  • Advises executives on institutionalizing and maturing information governance, data quality, information architecture and information asset management capabilities to include providing advice on satisfying regulatory requirements related to information governance and management.
  • Partners with business and IT teams to drive effectiveness and value of information governance, data quality, information architecture and information asset management processes to the business.
  • Ensures team understands how the information management activities they are responsible for align with information governance, data quality, information architecture and information asset management activities performed by other teams.
  • Directs team in work assignments, problem resolution, and producing quality work.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Architecture, Information Management, Information Studies or a related technical field (4 additional years work experience in information governance, information management or information architecture can be substituted in lieu of a degree in addition to the minimum years of work experience required.)

OR

  • A Master's Degree in Information Architecture, Information Management, Information Studies or a related technical field

OR

  • A PhD in Information Architecture, Information Management, Information Studies or a related technical field
  • If Bachelor's degree, 8 or more years’ experience in Information or Data related practices to include: information governance, information management, information architecture, IT, analysis and reporting

OR

  • If Master's degree, 6 or more years’ experience in Information or Data related practices to include: information governance, information management, information architecture, IT, analysis and reporting

OR

  • If PhD, 5 or more years’ experience Information or Data related practices to include: information governance, information management, information architecture, IT, analysis and reporting
  • 3 or more years of direct and/or indirect management experience

  • Strong leadership and experience in a matrix environment
  • Demonstrates a strong sense of ownership and thought-leadership in data governance
  • Demonstrates knowledge of risk management processes
  • Experience designing and implementing control frameworks
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of consumer banking regulations
  • Experience leading using an Agile project management framework
  • Adapts easily to change with experience managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, high volume environment
