About Our Team and Product

SAP Concur’s Technical Product Management organization (TPM) is responsible for creating and executing a roadmap for products, features, and services with inputs from numerous stakeholders including Product Strategy and Technology.

Travel is a key part of SAP Concur’s integrated Travel & Expense value proposition and the business travel industry is evolving at an ever-quicker pace as travel managers strive for reduced costs and suppliers differentiate themselves with new products and services in more markets. An online booking tool needs to do much more than facilitate air and hotel reservations according to travel policy; it must be an extension of our clients’ policies and cultures. Supporting the full range of demands from current and future clients in an environment where the travel suppliers themselves constantly evolve requires clear prioritization, division of responsibility, and a hunger to act fast.

The Travel TPM organization keeps that frenetic set of inputs organized and the R&D team focused on execution of the most important deliverables while ensuring that the software delivered is secure, stable, and will be adopted by clients and the larger business travel ecosystem.

About the Role

This position is on the Travel OBT Platform Technical Product Management team and will be responsible for some of the most critical services behind Concur’s online booking tool and other products in the Concur portfolio. For example, a successful candidate could expect to own Concur’s canonical store of all airports, rail stations, and hotel properties on the planet which involves aggregating data from many external sources and normalizing & deduping it to provide services that fulfill use cases across Concur’s product portfolio. Another example would be the service that determines whether a trip booked in Concur Travel requires approval based on the client’s corporate policy and the options selected by the end user. If a trip requires approval, this service is also responsible for identifying the approvers and securing their approval or rejection which could be as simple as sending an email or as complex as integration with Concur Request which provides highly customizable approval workflows to clients.

A successful candidate will be equally comfortable whiteboarding current and future functionality for technical and non-technical audiences, clarifying priorities with senior leadership, and rallying an engineering team around graceful solutions to hard problems.

In the first 12 months in this role you will:

• Become a subject matter expert in your domain so that you not only understand the services you deliver, but how they fit into the rest of Concur and the business travel industry. Understand how evolution of the business travel market will create gaps and challenges for your services.
• Develop a roadmap for your services that fulfills the product vision and strategy and accounts for engineering realities. Establish a clear intake process for newly identified work for your services and ensure that all stakeholders are aware of decisions when competing priorities arise.
• Enable the successful delivery of air, train, car, and hotel booking tool initiatives dependent on your services by managing risks and dependencies.
• Partner with your engineering team to ensure your services are highly reliable, scale, and secure by creating and vigilantly monitoring dashboards and other tools to provide those insights.
• Partner with your engineering team to ensure that the services you offer internally and externally comply with Concur’s standards so that all API customers, internal or external, have predictable experiences across the API portfolio.
• Ensure your services enable data-driven decisions for the creation or sunset of additional features.
• Influence externally and internally at all levels, secure buy-in, and drive successful execution of complicated projects across teams and time zones.
• Develop a deep understanding of existing implementations of your areas and, in partnership with technical leadership, develop a roadmap for sunsetting legacy services.
• Foster technical relationships with peers at external stakeholders, including data providers and travel suppliers.

You should bring:

• BS or BA, ideally with a focus on Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Business Administration, or Information Technology
• 5+ years of experience as a Product Manager, Product Owner, or Engineer
• Experience creating, maintaining, and sunsetting APIs for internal and external customers
• Comfort and understanding of how software is implemented, deployed and tested in services environments
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with complex stakeholder networks and competing priorities, despite ambiguity
• Knowledge and practice of agile methodologies
• Track record of successfully delivering product features against aggressive deadlines
• Excellent communications skills, to technical and non-technical audiences
• Concur Travel & Expense experience as a user, service administrator or implementation manager strongly valued
