The MetLife Innovation Office (Met.IO) helps internal organizations better understand the realm of possibilities that exist for our business. The Innovation Office is looking for a dynamic team player to operate the met.X tech incubator space in MetLife’s newest office in Cary, NC. As a member of the Innovation Office, the Innovation Community Associate will work with teammates and other business units across a range of projects and events. Examples include, selecting and overseeing programing in met.X, partnering with Techstars staff to host the MetLife Digital Accelerator, authoring internal communications about innovation activities, and engaging the local/regional entrepreneurial community.

The work will require attention to detail, external research, project management expertise, the generation of concise reports, and strong written communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define goals and implement a strategy to maximize the utilization/value of the met.X space
  • Design, coordinate, and facilitate the delivery of internal and external events
  • Engage local and regional community members to host startup- and innovation-related event. In addition to, liaise with in-house Creative, Design and Communication teams to create and distribute consistent messaging
  • Work cross-functionally (internally and externally) to ensure all event collateral, marketing materials, assets, and deadlines are managed
  • Support and execute processes for the collection, analysis, and prioritization of innovation ideas . In addition to, o ther ad-hoc assignments to support the objectives of the MetLife Innovation Office

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • Undergraduate degree with an additional 1 – 3 years of professional experience in corporate communications, event planning, and/or community engagement
  • Demonstrated ability to produce functional event plans such as run of show, site layouts, vendor and volunteer schedules, etc.
  • Track-record of executing successful productions
  • Experience managing multiple strategic partnerships and relationships with client groups
  • Strong business analysis and writing skills with the ability to articulate business concepts as manageable components

Preferred:

  • Experience with CRM (e.g. SalesForce) and/or data visualization tools (e.g. Qlik Sense)
  • A flexibility and openness to shifting priorities and timelines
  • A passion for experimentation, and willingness to try new things
  • Excellent understanding of current technology and leading-edge products/services
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of time
