Join us as a Mechanical Engineer and you’ll be looking at a career-defining role based at our JFK Airport site.
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical support to manage the performance of various mechanical systems throughout the AirTrain JFK Operation. Applicable systems include: Vehicle Carbody, Propulsion, Brakes, Doors, HVAC, Couplers, Trucks (Bogie), Air Supply and Leveling System, as well as Wayside Track, Fixed Facilities, Special Tools and Support Equipment, among others.
Responsibilities:
-
Investigate age, maintenance, and design-related performance trends.Identify root causes of failures and develop corrective action plans.

Prepare Engineering Investigation Reports and Root Cause Analyses of emergent equipment failures as needed.

Provide engineering calculations, technical specifications, test procedures, and lists of materials for project execution.

Develop equipment design and maintenance improvements to maximize safety, reliability, and on-time performance.

Provide project planning, scheduling, lists of materials, labor, and pricing for project execution on time and on budget.

Facilitate second and third level repairs of mechanical system components according to system drawings, manuals, and test procedures, in accordance with Bombardier safety, workmanship, and quality standards.

Develop new standard work and test procedures where required.

Source and obtain associated special tooling and equipment as needed.

Provide input to emergent Safety investigations.

Provide feedback to the Vehicles and Wayside Maintenance departments on system safety, reliability, quality, training, preventative maintenance, and workmanship for continuous improvement.

Assist capital asset replacement planning by identifying end-of-life components and establishing the scope, labor, and material requirements for scheduled overhauls, upgrades, and replacements.

Exhibit advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, Test Equipment, Test Software and Electronic & Mechanical measurement tools.

Exhibit excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in
Engineering
-
3+ years of experience as
a Mechanical Engineer working with electromechanical systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical
Engineering or Mechatronics.
