Summary• This is a key leadership role within the DePuy Synthes Supply Chain organization, accountable for End-to-end supply chain aspects of New Product Development and Introduction for the Sports & Shoulder Product Platform.• Through both direct and matrixed resources, new product accountabilities extend to supply chain project planning and resourcing, deployment of DfM, DtV processes, supplier/site selection, design transfer to internal/external manufacturing, qualification and validation processes, strategic launch planning including inventory and distribution process readiness and supply stabilization. Major points of collaboration will include R&D, Global Strategic Marketing, all Supply Chain and Procurement functions (including HR and finance), Quality, Regulatory and the J&J Enterprise Supply Chain teams.• As a member of the Sports & Shoulder Product Platform Leadership Team, the individual in this role is expected to provide leadership cross-functionally in support of developing supply chain performance and capabilities and business performance. The individual will be expected to drive programs of high complexity, high business impact, importance and visibility across DePuy Synthes in support of the Sports & Shoulder Product Platform goals and to do so with a large degree of autonomy. The person in this role is responsible for representing and being the primary supply chain linkage to R&D and Commercial strategies.• In addition to running matrix teams, the person in this role is directly accountable for a small team of direct and contract FTEs and will directly lead Manager level leaders across multiple sites and regions.Key Responsibilities• Sports & Shoulder New Product Delivery: Introducing new products that make ‘supply chain sense’, on-time, cost, quality and service level.• Lead launch execution, Supply Chain Readiness (SCR) and NPI End-to-end value as an Orchestrator, leading the cross functional teams through standardized launch management processes and ensuring strong functional accountability• Responsible for designing the End-to-end Supply Chain perspective to build and drive value• Influence key product development attributes (such as: manufacturability, sustainability, controls/process capability, network/capacity planning, inventory optimization) to achieve targeted quality, reliability, cost and growth goals.• Provide development opportunities and mentorship and utilize J&J performance management processes to grow a high-performing, diverse organization where individuals reach their personal aspirations.• Lead a team of SMEs to ensure product/process needs for assigned NPD projects are identified and communicated to the NPD team. Identify risks and work with the team to assure mitigations are completed during the development phase.• Supply Chain Functional Leadership on Sports & Shoulder Platform Leadership Team (with Global Strategic Marketing and R&D) to link supply chain strategies to commercial strategic priorities, influence product design and portfolio decisions and assure cross-functional alignment• Develop manufacturing & business strategies and accelerate launch of new products including development of compelling business cases and successful championing of funding/appropriation requests.• Prioritize NPD projects and resource allocation in consultation with partners• Represent Supply Chain in the Stage Gate process – accountable for decision rights in the value stream and the entire supply chain• Create and maintain strong integration with R&D, Quality and Supply Chain so that business requirements are translated into enabling systems & processes, equipment roadmaps and manufacturing methods that will allow for speed, simplicity and external focus.• DePuy Synthes and J&J Supply Chain capability and competency development, Strategic Development and Improvement and all other associated duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree is required, preferably in Engineering, Science, or technical field.• Master of Science and/or MBA is preferred.• A minimum of 10 years of business experience in related supply chain, manufacturing or product development roles required.• 8 years of people leadership experience strongly preferred.• Previous experience in new product development processes and practices is required.• Previous experience in Orthopedics or medical device industry or other regulated industry strongly preferred.• Six Sigma certification is preferred.• Demonstrated professional strengths in emotional intelligence, communication, leadership, collaboration, partnering, global thinking, strategic, project management and matrix management are required.• Demonstrated ability to build strong cross-functional teams with deep trust that can achieve in the face of challenges and constraints is essential to success is required.• Demonstrated ability to think strategically with high business insight and discernment, form strategic plans and influence executive management cross-functionally is required.• This position is located in Raynham, MA, and may require up to 30% domestic and international travel.
