Description

  • Drive continuous improvement of processes in multiple functions, both operational and commercial through kaizen and problem solving. Lead change management and learnings to drive DBS culture and methodologies across the full organization.
  • Work with functional leaders to ensure biggest issues are being addressed to improve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Policy Deployment (PD) initiatives
  • Become an expert in DBS lean and growth fundamental tools and be a training and development resource for these tools
  • DBS Leaders are also talent pipeline for functional leadership roles dependent on candidate ability and aspirations. The ideal candidate will have aspirations and agility for future growth moves either in DBS or functional leadership roles.

POSITION SUMMARY:
  • Reporting to Beckman Coulter Life Sciences (Bec LS) President, the Vice President, Global DBS will be a key member of the senior management team responsible for leading the integration of and strategy design/implementation of DBS to support Bec LS’s continued success in driving technology innovation and commercial execution across the globe. This executive will have the overall responsibility of identifying and leading the roadmap that will embed DBS as part of the Bec LS culture allowing Bec LS to meet their Policy Deployment (PD) and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Drive targeted, sustainable improvement in QDCI (Quality, Delivery, Cost and Innovation) that is tied to Policy Deployment (PD) and Daily Management (DM) by leveraging DBS tools, consulting skills, and the change management process.
  • Assist site / company Leadership in the development of a DBS Roadmap – Lean and Growth (i.e., how to use the DBS tools to drive sustainable improvement in results and grow its businesses).
  • Develop and own the global Bec LS DBS strategy
  • Serve as Danaher materials system (DMS) and problem-solving-process (PSP) resource by obtaining a training certificate. Teach DMS, PSP, PSP and other DBS tool classes as needed to support business needs and organizational learning. Continue to assist teams as a coach following training.
  • Be a resource for all fundamental DBS tools with enough knowledge to help teams select and utilize the appropriate tool to drive changes.
  • Understand and advise on when to use fundamental DBS tools, become a Certified Practitioner in several the tools prioritized based on business need, lead and facilitate kaizens as needed across the organization.
  • Maintain an overall local kaizen funnel for upcoming events and ensure they are managed properly, monitoring charter development, overseeing prework, attending report outs and reviewing sustainment, making sure corrective actions are put in place for Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that do not sustain.
  • Participate in kaizen events outside of Operating Company to gain experience, alternative perspectives, and benchmarking.
  • As part of a team, work on Policy Deployment initiatives to help develop the action plan and be a resource to facilitate the necessary tools that are used to meet Targets To Improve (TTI). May be involved as a team member, coach, or facilitator.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in recommending tools, processes, etc. to assist teams/departments in identifying and solving most impactful business problems.

Job Requirements
Qualifications
Education and experience requirements:
  • BA/BS or equivalent in business, life science, engineering. MBA preferred.
  • 10 years+ experience in Operations, Engineering or commercial departments, preferably in more than one area with emphasis on process improvements. May accept less experience with higher degree or internal Danaher experience.
  • 2 years + experience within Life Science, Diagnostics or related scientific industry preferred.
  • Must have worked in a lean environment utilizing the Toyota Production method, 6-sigma or other related process improvement methodologies

Physical Requirements:
  • Work is performed primarily at a desk, however prolonged periods of sitting and standing are required.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machines (i.e., computer, copy machine, printer, fax/scanner, projector).
  • Communicates verbally and in written form with internal and external customers (i.e., coworkers, supervisors and representatives’ third-party agencies); must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Must be able to travel globally 50% of time
