The Vaccine Generation group is a part of the Viral Vaccine department of Janssen Vaccines & Prevention (JVP) and focuses on the research and development of vaccines against viral infectious diseases. The group is responsible for the design, generation, production and characterization of recombinant viral vectors, for applied research in the vaccine field. Interaction with R&D groups in the organization is an important aspect of our work. You will join a stimulating group of researchers in a very collaborative environment. We are looking for an Associate Scientist to strengthen our team in developing innovative vaccine candidates aimed to prevent and treat life-threatening diseases.
Job description:As an experienced Associate Scientist, you will be working under the supervision of a (senior) Scientist in a support role for the group to perform release and characterization assays. The assays may include qPCR, ELISA, Western Blot, small scale productivity assays for our adenoviral vectors. In addition, you will support the assay development of several of these assays within our group. Work within our group is dynamic and requires a flexible attitude. This job requires you to be familiar with techniques like (q)PCR, suspension cell culture, and virus amplification. You will be expected to plan, design, conduct and trouble shoot moderately complex experiments and analyze and interpret the results and report these back to your supervisor.
Education: you have a bachelor’s degree (HLO or WO) with significant molecular and (bio)chemical training and have more than 3 years of working experience in a relevant position. Furthermore, demonstrable experience in molecular biology showing a good understanding of the matter is required.
