R&D Consumer: The R&D Centre located in Mumbai, India was established with an objective to support India and the APAC region. With years, it has expanded its operations to support Consumer R&D sites worldwide. We are outstanding because in addition to executing India Business Deliverables, it is a significant contributor to Global Consumer Product and Technology Deployment. It incorporates different technical functions which support global R&D New Product launches and changes to existing formulations. The R&D Centre employs over 130 employees and contractors. It also partners with third party labs and agencies who have more than 50 employees working on J&J Consumer R&D projectsJohnson and Johnson is hiring for Scientist-Toxicology / Clinical Safety (skin tolerance) based at MumbaiPosition Summary: JnJ consumer division has products in Skin health (beauty, baby skin), Essential health (oral care, topical healthcare, personal hygiene) and Self-care franchises. Toxicology group is responsible to conduct the safety assessment of ingredients and products. This position involves toxicology assessment of ingredients, finished products, and topical skin safety for consumer products with the help of data search and does not involve laboratory work. This position also requires study monitoring at CROs.

Job Responsibilities:

• Literature search & safety data (preclinical and clinical) collection for ingredient and consumer products safety assessment.
• Literature review for hazard assessment of ingredients intended to use in consumer products.
• Assessment of fragrances and flavors used in consumer products.
• Toxicology risk assessment for formulations for cosmetic applications including Margin of safety calculation.
• Assessment of skin tolerance of cosmetic ingredients and products from preclinical and clinical perspectives.
• Review and Interpretation of clinical skin safety studies (patch test, phototoxicity, irritation and sensitization studies)
• Review of products at different stages of development cycle.
• Assessment of OTC products and impurity qualification.
• Preparation of technical justification reports for regulatory submission.

Qualifications

Education:

• Master’s degree/ Ph.D. in toxicology, pharmacology or relevant science discipline.

Experience and Skill require:

• We are looking for Scientist with 1-2 years of experience in the field of consumer product risk assessment or other relevant Toxicology and/or Clinical safety (skin tolerance) experience
• Diploma in clinical sciences preferred.
• Knowledge of in silico tools for toxicity forecast, databases for literature search.
• Desirable knowledge of standards for product safety submissions and experience in medical writing.
