Application Platform Architect

Job Description

As the Application Platform Architect - you will be responsible for technical leadership of enabling VMware’s customers journey to a Software Defined Enterprise.
You are someone who intimately understands Linux internals, and how their use facilitates CI / CD workflows and software lifecycle. You will be assisting in the development of enterprise software-delivery strategies, applying Agile and DevOps techniques to applications and infrastructure and lead parts of the automated application build and deployment process.

Already, you have strong problem solving abilities, are able to work both at high and low levels of detail, have exceptional communication skills and have experience successfully leading teams.

Minimum Qualifications

Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field involving coding or equivalent practical experience
Experience with software design, delivery and operations
Experience in one or more of the following: Node, JavaScript, Python, Go .. Knowledge of the following: Linux, Containers, TCP, Firewalls, VPC, Load Balancing, Multi-tenant Cloud, Infrastructure-as-Code, Virtualisation Experience in one or more of the following: Kubernetes, Docker, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, OpenShift

Experience with designing for high availability services atop cloud-native environments and providers. Hands on with distributed system patterns a plus.

Responsibilities

Aid customers to be more efficient and controlled in their use of Private and Public Cloud
Work with the Development and other IT team members to refine, clarify requirements and enable development process automation

Technical

Working across Technical and Executive sponsors within customer environments to provide architectural guidance in a pre-sales capacity Maintain expertise in the area of architecture, including industry trends, strategies, and products

Interpersonal

Work closely with the diverse team across APJ and VMware’s Global Office of the CTO
Work with Sales People
Empower the change agent customers

Community

Contribute to Public OSS Projects
Presenting at Meetups / vForums / Industry Events & Interest in being involved in the DevOps Tooling Community

Partake as necessary in local marketing efforts to advocate for and influence

mindshare at the executive level of VMware’s Solutions & Capabilities
