Developers are involved in the newest products, which SAP plans to bring to market, using the latest technology such as in-memory computing, cloud-based applications, and advanced user interfaces.
PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
The SAP Globalization Services team localizes SAP’s software for use in different countries. The team has software-development locations right across the world, including Brazil, China, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, India, Portugal, Russia, and the United Arab Emirates.
We are seeking an English-speaking user assistance developer (technical writer) to join the international software-development team in Brno, Czech Republic that develops software for financials solutions. There are two main tasks we require of you.
First, you will work closely with our software developers and product management experts, working with them to understand the business processes and how the software covers them. You will then develop the user assistance that tells our customers how to implement, configure and run our software.
As well as conventional kinds of documentation, such as written guides, our team is increasingly looking at other forms of content that complement this, such as multimedia and social media. And, since the extended team also creates additional forms of information for our customers, a part of your job will be to help “curate” this information for the customers’ benefit.
Second, we are looking for someone with the necessary experience and leadership skills to help shape the user assistance work in this location in future, working with the developers and UA developers to help establish best practices in writing and to help build up the topic of UA in Brno.
We offer a comprehensive training plan, including business knowledge, SAP’s software, documentation tools, writing skills, and SAP’s house style. During your onboarding period, a mentor will accompany and support you in your writing tasks.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

• Planning, researching, and creating the content required by consultants and other users
• Editing user interface texts to ensure usability and creating user assistance and that the texts conform to SAP standards – in and English
• Researching and defining terminology
• Establishing best UA practices in GS Brno

REQUIRED SKILLS

• English native speaker (or near native-speaker level)
• University degree in business, humanities, or technical writing
• The ability to explain complex concepts clearly, and to distil information from different sources into one set of clear instructions
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with others
• Ability to work to tight deadlines

WORK EXPERIENCE
Several years’ experience in technical writing, technical translation, business, or other work in software development
