Fixed Term role - 12 months Beerse, Belgium
The In Vitro Associate Scientist will join the discovery team to develop cutting-edge small molecules, biologics and cell therapies for the treatment of cancer with specific focus on haematological malignancies. S/he will be responsible for contributing to in vitro studies for multiple research programs across the different stages of pre-clinical drug discovery. His/her responsibilities include the design, execution and interpretation of in vitro experiments for the validation and characterization of targets or therapeutic agents in the area of tumor biology and tumor immunology. Specifically, the candidate will contribute to screening activities, target validation and mechanism of action work. Previous experience with cell culture and basic cell/molecular biology is required. Previous experience with cell culture of immune cells, production of replication-incompetent lentivirus and flow cytometry analysis is a plus. Responsibilities include design and execution of experiments and critical analysis of data. Troubleshooting skills are essential.
S/he will demonstrate the ability to manage multiple in vitro experiments simultaneously, as well as actively work in a team environment. The candidate will demonstrate the ability to contribute to various projects outside of his/her own and collaborate with stakeholders from all relevant functions. S/he will demonstrate clear and professional verbal and written communication (in English). The candidate will be strongly motivated and dedicated, will show initiative and work independently. Experience in drug discovery / pharmacology and/or knowledge of the oncology field, in particular hematologic malignancies, and/or immuno-oncology, is a plus.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):- Demonstrate the ability to design, perform, interpret, troubleshoot and report complex data
- Ability to perform tissue culture is a must
- Cell/ molecular biology skills including transfections, transductions, western blotting, immunoprecipitation, siRNA/shRNA, qRT-PCR, Mesoscale, FACS and ELISA are desired
- Strong organizational skills including the ability to manage several projects simultaneously are required
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with people and teams are required
- Detail-oriented, with excellent record-keeping skills is a must
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SPECIAL SKILLS:- A Bachelor or Master degree or equivalent in laboratory science, biotechnology, biology, or similar; or equivalent experience in industry/lab/academic setting
- Working fluency in English
- Knowledge of oncology, hematology, or immunology and drug discovery experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical environment is a plus
