An Engineering Director at CDK Global is responsible for Defining and Executing on engineering vision for assigned product area(s). To facilitate this, Director must both follow corporate strategy, and influence it. Product Development leader should monitor and interpret all technology trends that are relevant and applicable to Automotive Digital Marketing Market, and take steps to continue to improve platform and products.

The Development Director manages Engineering Managers, who are assigned ownership of more specific delivery functions. A Development Director sets the workload priority aligned with specific roadmap and is the facilitator between business drivers and the team’s ability to deliver solutions. She/he functions as a key interface between business leaders, product managers, operations, and product marketing to advance the company’s objective to have the leading enterprise digital marketing platform/solution.

Essential function:

Technical excellence, Strategy, Prioritization, and Product Execution. This role requires high drive for customer satisfaction and delivering on results.

Key responsibilities:

• Leads functional or cross-functional efforts to deliver software application enhancements and products.
• Drives and Delivers on results, business defined and/or self-initiated
• Oversees teams responsible for the analysis, design, programming, debugging, and modification of software applications or other solutions
• Interacts with other groups like product managers, marketing, sales, and users to define application requirements and/or necessary modifications.
• Recruits, manages, and develops people managers and professional staff, ensuring the efficient operation of global development teams.
• Ensures that budgets, schedules, and performance standards are realistically set and attained.
• Has accountability for the performance and results of a strategically important large function or department.
• Adapts and executes functional or departmental business plans and contributes to the development of functional or departmental strategies.
• Collaborates with other business leaders outside of own division or region.
• Provides organizational leadership to managers, supervisors and/or professional technical staff.
• Oversees development of new applications or analysis and modification logic in existing applications or solutions.
• Drives business results and ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented.
• Both a technology and team leader.
• Focuses on driving business and customer value using technology and processes.

Typical tasks include:

• Construct delivery plans for new product initiatives
• Manage cross functional project teams utilized for major product initiatives
• Communicate project status to business stakeholders and rollup to overall roadmap
• Analyze deployed applications, keeping track of its maturity in the software development lifecycle, utilization, and fit in the product portfolio.
• Solid understanding of technology stack e.g. Java, Spring, Cassandra, Elastic Search, AWS, Tomcat, JS, HTML5 or similar technologies
• Continuous delivery and automation. Agile development, TDD, Scrum
• Driving change and leading teams for delivery, particularly in a distributed team structure
• How to build products that are extensible, scalable, and highly available
• Managing people and development of people
• Experience with UI/UX is a plus
