Manager / Senior Analyst, Manufacturing Finance

The Manager / Senior Analyst, Manufacturing Finance will be a key member of Zymergen’s finance team and will be responsible for providing financial strategic decision support for Zymergen’s Manufacturing department. This leader will collaborate with functional leaders, program leaders, and the Finance team to understand the stories behind the numbers, define and track key performance indicators, and build analytical frameworks for making financial and operating decisions that will support and enable the company’s profitable growth. This person will be a leader for the company, invited and expected to expand their area of expertise and to contribute as a leader for the business. This role reports to the Director / Associate Director, Manufacturing Finance and works with business partners cross-functionally. Zymergen needs someone who has experience in a public company setting from a corporate finance perspective to potentially make the transition from private to public in the future. This person will be someone who can stretch themselves intellectually. Additionally, this person will have strong analytical skills and willingness to learn a complex business model. Job Description and Specific Responsibilities

Strategically partner with Manufacturing leadership, supporting decision-making and providing thoughtful financial analysis to maximize long term value for the business.

• Provide financial leadership across planning, budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning
• Help build forward-looking predictive financial models and tools to support Manufacturing
• Provide financial & strategic support for Zymergen’s Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process and cross-functional team
• Deep understanding of the linkages between demand forecast, production forecast, and financial forecast
• Influence business partners by providing proactive suggestions, backed up with strong financial analysis and identifying opportunities to improve strategic decision making, operational efficiency and productivity
• Provide financial and strategic support for new product introductions into manufacturing
• Capital and capacity investment analysis
• Utilize breadth of experience in FP&A
• Lead and influence a team of high performing FP&A professionals
• Build strong business partnership and collaborate with leaders of all levels and functions
• Advise business and finance leaders of opportunities and risks impacting business performance
• Establish and develop operating KPIs
• Manage processes related to month-end and quarter-end close, including work performed on projects to inform accruals, variance analysis, and management reporting
• Promote thought leadership in process improvement to scale forecasting and reporting tools, procedures, and methodologies
• Should be able to influence a team of high performing Finance, Accounting, and Corporate Development professionals
• Meet all corporate finance requirements, follow corporate planning calendar. Identify and implement process improvements for planning cycle

Qualifications/Experience

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of corporate finance, FP&A, manufacturing / operations finance, investment banking, or like experience
• Experience building cross-functional relationships and partnering with organizational leaders
• Experience tailoring messaging as required for varying level of audiences
• Project management skills
• Excel, PowerPoint, FP&A systems experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• CFA, CFM, or like credential preferred
• Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) experience
• Organized, detail-oriented and able to meet tight deadlines on high-volume deliverables
• P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow analysis experience
• Tableau experience a plus
