PRIMARY ROLE

This role is externally focused and will support Takeda corporate Vision and Strategy as well as market access Strategies strengthening, developing and influencing external environment within the health care industry to support Takeda portfolio, while enhancing the reputation of Takeda.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement the Public Affairs strategic plans
  • Drive public affairs tactical initiatives to support market access for the Takeda portfolio
  • Support the engagement of external stakeholders to seek influence through resonant messages and clear positions
  • Represent the company’s strategic policies and guidelines
  • Monitor and document external changes and trends (incl. policy change and competitor activities). Use information to identify risks and/or opportunities and propose strategic response actions
  • Contribute to stakeholder perception of Takeda as a leader in care and a financially, socially and environmentally responsible company
  • Ensure full compliance with business ethics and quality systems and procedures

Purpose and subject of interaction with internal & external customers and key contacts:

  • Independently and through support to colleagues, the role will seek to:

Serve as company representative on public affairs-related issues in industry and trade associations

Contribute effectively in external meetings, conferences and relevant Takeda meetings (local, national or regional level)

Challenges regarding innovation & change:

  • A high degree of innovation is a must, as market access and public affairs are rapidly evolving disciplines, with substantial business impact

Achieve internal buy-in of external engagement activities for implementation across the business unit

Develop and implement innovative MAPA initiatives and tools (incl. best-practice sharing to improve business across affiliate, business area and region

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • University Degree (preferably in Social/Health Sciences) or Business Degree
  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Previous experience in a Healthcare corporate is a plus

KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Understanding of basic health economics principles and good knowledge of HTA processes
  • Strong attention to detail and an ability to write clearly and concisely about complex issues
  • Ability to work both independently, and as part of a team
  • Ability to use appropriate levels of assertiveness and diplomacy when dealing with all levels of the organization and external contacts
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a corporate environment to achieve company goals
  • Commercially minded and is capable to translate their performance into tangible and demonstrable outcomes
  • Excellent communicator with strong written and verbal presentation skills
  • Aptitude for problem solving and solutions-orientated approach to working
  • Strategic thinker, able to develop robust public affairs strategies based on insights from developments in the political, policy and life science sectors
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage multiple competing tasks and demands.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
  • Must be able to handle confidential information and issues effectively and without breach of confidentiality
  • Working knowledge of the Code of Conduct

INTERNAL & EXTERNAL CONTACTS

  • External: Political stakeholders across the MIDDLE EAST including both elected and appointed representatives and civil servants at Parliament and the devolved administrations, patient advocacy groups, professional associations, industry and trade associations, healthcare think tanks, and other third-party influencers impacting health policy in the MIDDLE EAST
  • Internal: ICMEA, GEM and Global Public Affairs, ME cluster Head, Business Operations and Strategy, Marketing Management, Legal, Regulatory, Medical, Supply Chain, Corporate Communications.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • The role will require both domestic and international travel (30%-40%)
