The Opportunity

Project Management at Silicon Labs is recognized as a core function to enable the Company to excel in quality and delivery in the IoT space. This role will drive software project management processes and executions models for our IoT business as we work to make software project management a core competency. The scope of responsibility includes all communication protocols and products in our IoT portfolio, with a primary focus on wireless software.

Operationally, the role involves working with key stakeholders throughout the org to drive definition planning and execution on company roadmap objectives. The role encompasses wearing many hats to drive progress across multiple disciplines in SW product development, orchestrating successful product delivery by working with sales & support, product management, engineering (IC hardware, software, applications), SQA, quality & security compliance, product marketing and end customers.

Essential Functions

  • Deliver programs supporting Silicon Labs’ IoT embedded SW and Product Security Strategy on time, on budget and to specification
  • Provide product leadership by working with cross-functional teams to create and manage schedules for our IoT software and embedded firmware products
  • Manage projects from concept through delivery to include generating schedules and resource plans, monitoring progress, managing change control, managing risk and issues
  • Record detailed requirements, constraints and assumptions with team members in order to establish the project deliverables and schedule
  • Ensure common understanding and collaboration across the org by setting expectations in accordance with the project plan
  • Formalize final acceptance for the projects by ensuring that the delivered products and services company with the agreed deliverables list, scope and organizational procedures
  • Prepare and present bi-weekly project summaries to key stakeholders

Requirements

  • BSEE, BsC, or other technology-related degree with 10+ years of industry experience
  • 5+ years of proven experience in a Project or Program Management role
  • Certifications in Project Management desired

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of the relationship between embedded firmware development and IC Design
  • Detailed understanding and hands-on experience in software development lifecycle and methodologies, including traditional agile and waterfall methods
  • Ability to influence, communicate effective plans, and build trust among cross-functional engineering teams and leaders
  • Modern project management tools (Confluence, Jira, Portfolio Manager, MS Project, etc)
  • Familiarity and understanding of continuous integration, DevOps, build environments, and SW release processes
  • Working knowledge of PKI, HSM, chains of trust and device management through cloud services (a plus)
  • Experience with product security acquired within a company involved in IoT products and/or systems (a plus)
