JOB SUMMARY

The purpose of the business planner is to drive retail insights with Pan-European Strategic and Key Accounts and ensure mutual profitability for both Under Armour and our key retailers. This teammate will turn sell-through data into actionable insights, drive marketplace point-of-sale performance visibility, and drive strategic plans to align internal key performance indicators with those of our retailers.

The business planner is responsible for using data analytics to inspire and challenge, create fact based (strategic) planning and enable smart decision making. The business planner is able to define within the POD the KPIs (Sell Through, Stock Health, Retailer Inventory, Margins), track and share these with business partners & discusses the data and KPIs with the retailer in order to measure current performance and map the future.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & SCOPE OF ROLE

5 – 7 SMART Responsibilities

30 % - Analytics & (Strategic) Planning: Structured KPI measurement & Follow Up

30 % - Drive POD & Account actions (like replenishment opportunities) on Sell Through Performance

15 % - Initiate retailer meetings to provide inside in performance and future outlook in order to strengthen relationship and performance

15 % - Scenario planning incl.5YP, QBRs, Intakeplanning, RTV and MDA’s

10 % - Continuous improvement (projects, tools, reports, insights, SPS, ..)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Bachelor/Master in Business discipline.

Experience: 2+ years of experience within retailing, fields of planning or category management is an advantage.

Qualifications:

  1. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
  2. Ability to read and apply retail and digital metrics with the right balance between analytical and commercial skills
  3. Experienced with stock & sales plans (including open-to-buy metrics) a plus
  4. Able to influence management team and peers, and able to implement new way of working

The business planner is the right hand of the POD lead. The business planner creates insights for the POD from making short term decisions on replenishment opportunities to long term decisions on strategy and growth plan. In addition, the business planner is responsible for the sell out plans (incl. KPIs), scenario planning and to find business opportunities and risks.

FIND A BETTER WAY: Creativity & Innovation

All business planners need to have their own creative approach on how to find the business opportunities and to define the right retailer approach. Business understanding, tool knowledge (SPS, Excel, WEBI), decision making, intake planning and continuous improvement are key parts of the role. The market keeps on moving (digital, more data, more needs) and the business planner needs to evolve with the market needs.

WIN TOGETHER: Collaboration

The business planner is:

  • The right hand of the POD lead and the go to person for the business partners (for example finance, account and marketing managers) to discuss KPIs and business opportunities.
  • Customer facing when business opportunities and/or strategy is discussed. (from buy meetings to strategic T2T meetings)
  • Managing sell-through reporting. Creates & owns dashboards summarizing retailer key performance indicators. Identify & track KPIs unique to Pure Players.
  • Implementing data connections with customers and 3rd party SPS
  • Key partner to support the business in the target achievements and flag risks and opportunities
  • Enabling cross-channel sell-through reporting: Align metrics across Pure Players & own E-Comm to build a holistic picture of online performance
  • Support various cross-channel projects through analytics and process support. Potentially including: Digital “Running-the-Business”, Drop Ship, & Pure Player marketplace tracking.

BUILD A GREAT TEAM: Building Talent

The business planner works independently on his/her responsibilities with guidance of the manager and the POD lead.

The planner is responsible for (autonomously) leading meetings with business partners to discuss the KPIs and map the future. Projects vary from door level and city analyses, to leading POD workshops and projects with the customer in order to build mutual profitability. The strength of the business planner is to have both operational as strategical insights.

  • Have a clear understanding of the business
  • High level of analytical insights & skills
  • High level of communication skills (in order to translate data into a ‘story’)
  • High level of independency and initiative
  • Interest in working with analytical tools
  • Project management skills
