Job Description

The Operations Financial Planning & Analysis team plays a critical role in the success of this organization by providing a foundation of robust planning and reporting processes that focus on explaining past results and forecasting future performance. We partner with every function in the company to provide valuable information and insights that drive both strategic and tactical business decisions on a magnitude that has direct impact on HP.

The OPS FP&A Spend Analyst is a Global Business Unit (GBU) role that is responsible for overseeing GBU spend, understanding and managing transactions, coordinating short-term and long-term forecasting, managing master data elements, understanding the implications of spend on the OPS Profit & Loss at a category level and communicating performance to management.

Close partnerships with World Wide Marketing, R&D (Research & Development), GBU finance and horizontal functions create an opportunity to develop a breadth of knowledge and a strong network. Visibility extends to a number of directors and vice presidents, making this role a desirable opportunity for career-minded individuals. This position offers a fast moving environment with ample opportunity for upward advancement.

Applies developed subject matter knowledge to solve common and complex business issues within established guidelines and recommends appropriate alternatives. Exercises independent judgment within generally defined policies and practices to identify and select a solution. Ability to handle most unique situations. May seek advice in order to make decisions on complex business issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides complex, financial analysis for a financial function or a business.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with business leaders to guide and influence decision-making.
  • Provides analytics to business initiatives, typically representing a sub-function within finance for a particular business.
  • Supports policy and process improvement and identifies opportunities.
  • Identifies issues and proposes solutions.
  • Represents finance on cross- functional teams.
  • Provides mentoring and guidance to analysts.

Education and Experience Required:

  • First level university degree with a focus in business or economics; advanced degree or accounting certification (e.g., CPA, MBA) preferred.
  • Typically 4+ years of experience as a financial analyst.
  • Typically experienced in more than one finance function.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong business application skills (e.g., Microsoft Excel).
  • Strong communication and influencing skills.
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Good business acumen.
