Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Technical Support Engineer 1 to our location in Beaverton, OR.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with individuals and teams (infrastructure engineering, integration engineering, data center operations, application support, the help desk, identify access management, and cyber security) on behalf of the end-user to resolve problems, improve efficiency or effectiveness, or deliver new solutions to the end user.
  • Provide first line engineering support for problem resolution across all server platforms and infrastructure during day time operational hours. Handle break fix tickets as assigned or escalated by the Help Desk, for client/server application and infrastructure related issues.
  • Utilize the JIRA workflow solution to design and implement automated or streamlined processes (including self-service) related to the end-user experience for requests and resolution of needs.
  • Utilize the JIRA solution to support metrics collection for the purpose of trend analysis, SLA's, KPI's, and MTTR.
  • Utilize the JIRA solution to develop and maintain a knowledgebase for technology solutions and resolutions impacting the end-user experience.
  • Ensure service level agreements are met for all customer service response activities while maintaining full compliance with operational standards, procedures and best practices.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • 4 years’ experience supporting multi-tier, client/server computing infrastructure in a 24x7 production environment.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft infrastructure technologies including Active Directory, DHCP and DNS.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft server OS, Microsoft desktop OS, and Office Suite applications.
  • Demonstrated track record of conducting effective analysis, and providing documentation of the process and of the proposed requirements and design.
  • Solid understanding of basic IP networking principles and methods.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate Degree in IT related field.
  • Demonstrated ability with virtualization technologies, preferably with VMware's product suite including vSphere and Horizon View.
  • Demonstrated ability with data backup and recovery practices for maintaining scheduled backups, retention policy management, and error monitoring and correction, preferably using Veritas NetBackup solution.
  • Demonstrated ability with use of PowerShell and other scripting tools.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry standards in computing technologies as related to client technologies and software deployment.
  • Demonstrated ability to address and solve procedural, functional, communications and engineering related issues.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in integrating deployment solutions in a current Windows desktop environment.
  • Evidence of skills in quickly assimilating new technologies and technical information associated with tools and applications and applying experience to that newly acquired knowledge to produce reliable, efficient solutions.
  • Demonstrated abilities in effective written and verbal communication skills for conveying clear, accurate information with non-technical as well as technical customers, and for documentation of standards and procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in Microsoft operating system facilities and services, including: Drivers, registry databases, control panels, management consoles, administrative tools, component services, networking facilities, printing services, database connectivity, APIs, security services, directory services, etc.
  • Demonstrated in-depth deployment tool knowledge. Examples of tools: Visual Basic, RIS, RI-Prep, SysPrep, SMS, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to configure and deliver deployment solutions for hundreds of client and/or server machines which include considerations of performance, deployment windows, versioning and version tracking, archiving as appropriate, guaranteed delivery mechanisms, and feedback mechanisms for process improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve existing deployment solutions.
