Business Analyst, Fulfillment Operational Excellence

Wayfair continues to build industry-shaping infrastructure and capabilities in Operations to fuel growth and delight our customers. As part of this journey, we are seeking bright, entrepreneurial specialists to help us drive initiatives related to our most strategic operations topics that will propel Wayfair from $5B to $10B and beyond.

Wayfair is inventing the next generation supply chain for the big and bulky category within ecommerce. The industry and Wayfair are growing rapidly and we have the unique opportunity to shape this evolving business model. Our Operational Excellence team will be at the forefront of this effort as we establish and optimize our end to end operational capabilities. This will be a critical capability as we prepare to scale our network to 3x its current size over the next few years.

Our Operational Excellence team will be the team that enables the continuous improvement of our physical processes across sites, helps establish a culture of waste elimination and defect reduction across the organization, and acts as a central interface & process experts for other stakeholders such as Tech, CastleGate, Product Performance, WDN.

The key role of the business analyst is to uncover actionable insights with data that can be leveraged to drive step-change process improvements within our operations. This person will be empowered to put those insights into action with hands-on project management within our field operations. This role will:

• Build and analyze data sets that touch every aspect of Wayfair operations to identify new opportunities and trends to drive supply chain performance and improve the customer experience
• Create new process measures using insights gathered by marrying real world operations and back end data sets together
• Structure and lead problem solving with senior, cross-functional stakeholders to understand broad strategic requirements from the business, prioritize the opportunities we see in the data, develop innovative levers to tackle those opportunities and set targets for impact
• Embed in field operations to incorporate real world operational insights
• Scope and run pilots and projects to test, refine and scale innovative solutions to the most difficult operational challenges

What You'll Do:

• Analyze performance data and metrics to root-cause issues, identify opportunities and provide actionable insights for process improvement
• Create and execute project roadmaps to improve flow, standardization, quality and productivity
• Report performance trends and improvements to senior management
• Contribute to the development of new technology to drive increased efficiency and accuracy
• Work cross functionally with groups company-wide, including Fulfillment, Product Performance, Product Management, Engineering, CastleGate and Supplier Operations
• Collaborate closely with fulfillment to identify and capture improvement opportunities
• Travel to our Fulfillment Centers to learn the current process, build relationships, identify opportunities and ultimately put data driven insights into action

What You'll Need:

• A Bachelor Degree, analytics or engineering focus preferred
• 3 to 6 years of e-commerce, logistics, manufacturing or process improvement experience
• Articulate and persuasive communication skills, both written and verbal
• Innovative problem-solving skills – dissect and determine root causes of problems, and implement solutions
• Analytical and comfortable with large data sets and drawing insights from them
• A track record of successful negotiation and relationship management skills
• An ability to hit the ground running – a confident, entrepreneurial self-starter
• Demonstrated senior presence, recognized as an effective coach to others
• An ability to manage and prioritize projects, and to delegate tasks appropriately
• A track record of taking on big challenges and delivering despite obstacles and limited resources
• Experience in business and data analytics, Excel, SQL
