Linux Systems Administrator
As a member of the GBUDS IT Operations organization, the position of System Administrator (IC3) will be responsible for the overall day-to-day operational support of the Global Business Units product development infrastructures based in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Xen and OpenVirt Hyper-visors. Ideal candidate should have 10 years or more relevant work experience. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Monitoring all server environment located in the US and other data centers around the world to insure systems are available for Product Development, Quality Assurance and Consulting t eams.
The System Administrator will maintain the essentials such as operating systems, business applications, security tools, web-servers, Oracle VM servers, ZFS storage Appliances and other Network Attached Storage devices.
Upgrade systems and processes as required for enhanced functionality and security.
The ideal System Administrator (IC3) would have the following Administrator level experience and knowledge in the following technologies.
- Experience with all Microsoft Operating Systems,
- Linux OS – Oracle Linux, Red Hat Linux experience required.
- Experience with Xen and or OpenVirt Hyper-visors
- Experience with Linux file systems, Linux user management and file permissions.
- Experience with Oracle VM server 3 and above including VLAN and clustered environments
- Experience with iSCSI SANS and ZFS appliances; Oracle FS1 knowledge is a plus.
- Experience with all server hardware technologies and storage devices
- In-depth knowledge of computer systems and problem resolution.
Detailed Description and Job Requirements
Provides day-to-day technical support to employees for network infrastructure and internal desktop systems software and hardware. Installs, configures and troubleshoots desktop systems, workstations, servers and network issues in a heterogeneous environment.
Maintains passwords, data integrity and file system security for the desktop environment. Communicates highly technical information to both technical and nontechnical personnel. Recommends hardware and software solutions, including new acquisitions and upgrades. May participate in development of information technology and infrastructure projects. May conduct training programs
Job duties are varied and complex utilizing independent judgment. May have project lead role. 5 years relevant work experience. BS/BA preferred.
