In this role, you have the opportunity to

Bring your experience and knowledge to join Philips Research North America on the journey of developing novel solutions to improve health, quality of life, and safety for older adults aging-in-place and for their formal and informal caregivers. Our research areas include human factors, artificial intelligence and machine learning, health informatics, and public health. Collaborative relationships are maintained with scientific and medical institutions, academia and governmental resources.

You are responsible for

• Participate in a research team that will: research, design, and develop algorithms, software, and services that provide communication and coordination support for older adults and their caregivers
• Explore novel approaches to health and safety monitoring and promotion for older adults
• Explore novel approaches to information exchange and care coordination for older adults
• Interact with experts in the Philips Aging and Caregiving business
• Contribute to the design and management of field and lab testing of novel solutions
• Write scientific publications and present at scientific conferences
• Write technical documentation.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

• Ph.D. in electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, computer science, informatics, or a related field.
• Experience in the design, development and evaluation of mobile health technology, ubiquitous and/or pervasive technology, or related application domains.
• Machine learning and data mining
• Algorithm design, implementation and testing
• Publishing scientific papers and presenting at scientific conferences
• Excellent oral and written communication skills

Skills and experience in any of the following areas would be a plus:

• Experience with solutions for older adults and their caregivers is highly desirable.
• Developing and testing software applications (Python, Java, or other widely-used languages)
• Experience with data science and deep learning (preferably in Python)
• Experience with bio-signal processing
• Experience with server-based and database-backed applications
• Experience with designing and managing human subjects research
• Knowledge of human physiology
• Working with multidisciplinary, cross-cultural teams
