Senior Consultant, Networking & Security Services | NSX & Cloud
VMware Professional Services is looking for talented individuals to enable the success of our customers.Senior Consultants on the Networking and Security team architect, design, and implement 21st century networking and security solutions within the software defined data center.
Responsibilities
·Assist/lead the development of architecture blueprints, design specifications, migration plans and operational best practices guidelines based on detailed requirements gathered onsite
·Lead the definition and design of VMware Network Virtualization products and partner ecosystem solutions, following through to installation, configuration, and testing
·Provide technical leadership to VMware consulting project teams, which will include project work at customer sites
·Maintain current knowledge of multiple areas of VMware solutions and relevant security aspects
·Participate in the pre-sales process to understand customer business and technical objectives and product requirements, in order to develop effective solutions
·Lead the definition and design of customer virtualization security solutions to address private and hybrid security needs.
·Maintain current knowledge of multiple areas of VMware solutions and relevant security aspects
·Lead service positioning and development efforts to drive VMware’s security services message internally and with customers.
·Lead/deliver technical enablement web conferences, services delivery training events and labs at industry events such as VMworld
·Presentation at customer and partner opportunities, training sessions and venues
·Active and regular participation in knowledge management/capture activities
Requirements
Ideal candidates will have a background in Data Center Network Architecture/Design, Network Security, and Virtualization in the context of a private/hybrid cloud environment.
·5+ years relevant experience in these subject areas with at least 5 years’ experience in a consulting role
·Leading small/medium sized technical projects and teams
·Strong expertise in L2 Switching, L3 Routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP
·Demonstrated experience with Firewalls, IDS/IPS, Security/Trust Zones design/architecture, Security Assessments/Evaluation
·Consulting and/or services pre-sales experience / leadership
·Expertise in designing architecture to meet compliance targets such as PCI and/or HIPAA
·Network component troubleshooting expertise with:
oASRs, enterprise-class switches and routers
oNetwork firewalls
oVirtual networking components
·Experience or good understanding of any of the following cloud management systems: OpenStack,vRealizeAutomation,vCloudDirector(vCD),VMC, Azure, GCP
·Solid understanding of REST APIs anddatacenterautomation.
·Applications are considered both from individuals currently working in the physical networking space (ieCisco) who would like to move into the Network Virtualization and those already working within Network Virtualization.
·Programming/scripting skills a plus (C / Unix shell, REST API, PowerShell)
·Must be able to travel up to 75% nationally, working from customer sites
Certifications and Education
·CCDP, CCNP,CISSP,VCP-NV or similar required. Ideally you hold a CCIE or VCIX-NV certification.
·B.S./B.A./M.S. degree or equivalent technical training
