About the Role

UX Designers at Pearson ensure we solve the right problems and understand user needs to deliver new or improved products and services that have a real impact. We encourage lean and iterative mentality. You will work across the UK business to optimise the experience of using UK websites to drive revenue and improve customer experience. You will work with a wide range of teams in a range of locations, and will have an important role to play in driving our evolution to a truly digital company.

Main activities / responsibilities

  • Maintain a user-centered approach best practices while respecting business needs.
  • Design and maintenance of IA to ensure new content and development are consistent and in line with UX guidance.
  • Conduct and analyse customer journey across sites to drive revenue, simplify task completion.
  • Carry out research, conduct usability tests to validate solution hypotheses.
  • Competitor and benchmark analysis to understand commercial landscape.
  • Contribute to high-level strategic decisions with the rest of the marketing and executive teams.
  • Communicate design decisions with evidence and rationale to key stakeholders.
  • Give and solicit feedback from other team members in order to continually raise our bar for quality.
  • Lead UX design from research through implementation - you want to help the team succeed more than making a nice wireframe file.

Qualifications

Qualifications/Experience

  • Demonstrate hands-on experience in related field. Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Have experience designing e-commerce websites, from consumer-facing to internal tools for desktop/mobile.
  • Experience working independently with clients or stakeholders in a consulting role.
  • Good listening and clear communication skills, who is able to collaborate with people.
  • The ability to communicate UX design rationale with various stakeholders and leadership teams.
  • Strong prioritisation skills and flexibility to manage workload; meet critical project milestones and deadlines in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving and challenging environment.
  • Appreciation and understanding of the commercial landscape and trends, awareness of the balance between user needs, business requirements and technology constraints.
  • Experience of planning, conducting and sharing user insight: quantitative and qualitative research, treejack tests, surveys and interviews.
  • Confidence in presenting and influencing a wide range of stakeholders through building prototypes, presentations and wireframes.
  • Proven experience at creating documentation to share UX progress, updates and findings.
