Senior Data Engineer

Job Description

We need an experienced Data Engineer to help scale data infrastructure and organize large amounts of data into secure, optimized stores. Be part of a nimble, motivated team responsible for building trust, owning data integrity, and supporting data-driven decision-making at Niantic.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement data models that segment data appropriately and facilitate efficient queries for a variety of use cases.
• Build sophisticated ETL pipelines to ingest, validate, and structure data from diverse sources.
• Contribute to the development of the data stack responsible for storing and processing large volumes of analytics data.
• Mentor and provide technical leadership to other data engineers.
• Work directly with ML Science, Engineering, Data Science/Product, and other teams to provide useful, legally compliant datasets.

Qualifications

• You dream in Java, Python, and SQL and are passionate about going deep on large data sets
• Familiarity with mobile marketing and User Acquisition particularly metrics like CPI, LTV, ARPPU, retention, and k-factor
• Proven success deploying large-scale data extraction pipelines to service ML models, User Acquisition, and other BI functions
• Experience with cloud deployment and data processing tools (e.g. Airflow, Composer, Dataflow)
• Deep knowledge of popular data technologies (e.g. Spark, Hive, and Cassandra) and intimate knowledge of where each fits in the stack and its tradeoffs

Candidate will have 4+ years work experience developing and deploying data pipelines. Holds a BS in computer science, statistics, engineering or related field. Graduate degree preferred but not required.

Plus If...

• Detailed knowledge of, and experience with, the large advertising networks, e.g. Google, Facebook, Twitter, Apple.
• Knowledge of the Google data stack (e.g. Spanner, BigQuery, Dataflow).
• Knowledge of ML models for classification, regression, and clustering.
