The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), located in Seattle, Washington, is part of a dynamic collaboration among three organizations known nationally and internationally for their patient care and research: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Washington, and Seattle Children's. Over the past 25 years, these institutions have worked together to support their mission of adult and pediatric oncology patient care services, research and education.
Reporting to the Financial Reporting Manager, the Sr. Accountant works with contacts across the SCCA and outside organizations and is responsible for the preparation of more complex and/or non-standard journal entries and related reconciliations, technical research for GAAP or tax issues, and analysis and presentation of accounting issues to members across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries and related reconciliations
- Assist with preparing financial information, including the audited financial statements, board report, and others upon request
- Coordinate and present analysis for standing meetings with members of the accounting and financial analytics teams
- Work with the GL Manager, Regulatory Reporting Manager and/or Controller on special projects as assigned
- Develop tactical solutions to identified issues within the department. Assist others within the department as needed, including training and research, and serve as a liaison to those outside of the department
- Communicate with customers (peers, SCCA department managers, SCCA partners and affiliates, etc.) to identify and resolve accounting issues, share and gather information, and report out financial information
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent
- Active Washington CPA license
- Five years experience in accounting or finance
- Five years conducting monthly/yearly financial statement close processing
- Excellent organizational and problem solving skills
- Strong attention to detail, follow up regularly, prioritize and ability to independently perform complicated and multiple tasks with minimal direction
- Able to identify and resolve routine and complex problems
- Comfortable communicating with both a technical and non-technical audience
- Excellent and pleasant oral and written communication skills by email, phone and in person
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook
Preferred:
- Knowledge of and experience with the financial suite of PeopleSoft applications highly desirable
