The Data Pipeline Platform team at Groupon is at the heart of all things “data”, working on defining and building the next-generation platform for engineering data pipelines to data-science/machine learning infrastructure. Our mission is to empower data engineers, software engineers & data-scientists across all business units to accelerate the building of data pipelines & data science applications. This role offers a unique combination of skills in computer science (distributed systems, big data), machine learning infrastructure and scalable, high-performance production systems.

Some of the things you’ll be doing:

• Conceive, code, and launch the next-generation in Groupon’s data pipeline platform & machine learning infrastructure; your system will power all data pipelines & data science use-cases across Groupon.
• Build a flexible, generalized high-performance platform for (1) data/feature engineering pipeline orchestration, standardization (2) solutions for ensuring data quality through the entire data lifecycle (3) canonicalization of various structures/forms of data for all data customers (4) model training, serving and lifecycle management
• Put your strong background in high-performance distributed systems, big data, analytics, and large-scale software design to good use.
• Use big data technologies such as Kafka, Spark, Apache Beam, Storm, Elasticsearch, Cassandra, HBase.
• Provide subject matter expertise on AWS related data technologies and automation.
• Put your background in machine learning tools and frameworks to good use (SageMaker, Jupyter, TensorFlow, MLFlow, ...)
• Collaborate with cross-functional agile teams of software engineers, data engineers, ML experts, and others in building new product features

Some things we are looking for:

• MS/PhD in Computer science, with 2+ years of experience in distributed systems, data engineering, machine learning, algorithms or similar field. We will also consider strong BS candidates with related background and experience.
• Strong coding skills in a language such as Java/Scala/Python etc.
• Industry experience in data engineering tools and frameworks.
• Industry experience in machine learning tools and frameworks is a plus.
• Rigor and robustness in coding and design, thorough understanding of performance trade-offs.
