About the Role: Our users are building some of the most amazing construction projects around the world, and our mobile & web apps are critical tools in their workflows. Infrastructure at our new Site Construction organization builds and maintains the cloud platform our core systems run on every day to enable our customers to do more and do it quickly. You will be a part of the team at Autodesk ACS organization working on the new product launch that unifies the web and mobile user experiences for our PlanGrid and Bim360 product lines to give our customers the best tools to enable them to work more efficiently and collaboratively. Our core functionalities of field collaboration, construction records, lifecycles, admin and users, and project management teams depend on a common Infrastructure to build and deliver products quickly to delight our customers. You are excited to build and drive the team that will make it possible for engineering to triple in size in distributed engineering sites. You are an engineer whisperer. Our infrastructure is going international in 2019 and we are looking for managers to help push the project over the finish line. Our team will work on a variety of projects from infrastructure testing in kubernetes and terraform to service mesh and chaos/resilience engineering. Everything is on the table as we push towards a multi-region architecture that supports heavy data segmentation.

Responsibilities:

    • Manage multiple teams in Infrastructure, each with strong technical engineering manager that focuses on a specific set of responsibilities to complete the Infrastructure platform required to allow our engineering teams to build and deploy quickly
    • Collaborate with Autodesk core Infrastructure organization to define and shape requirements, contribute to the corporate engineering community so other Autodesk product development teams can leverage and reuse our framework and toos
    • Have a heavy focus on people, planning and architecture
    • Work closely with our systems architect to design and implement core offerings which can be leveraged by product teams
    • Work with our engineering teams to build systems level tools for a service oriented architecture using microservices that scale
    • Review key architectural changes across the organization and participate heavily in the proposal process
    • Set and manage KPIs/SLOs/SLIs
    • Work across the org to address and predict performance bottlenecks
    • Work closely with project managers to set high level goals and produce quarterly/yearly plans
    • Have a passion to build resilient systems that serve millions of users with high level of quality and observability

About You:

    • Management experience, managing remote team experience is a plus
    • Ability to go 10 rounds with systems architects and emerging leaders
    • A technical background working in medium to large systems; we would love extended experience in Python systems but welcome Java, Go, C++, etc.
    • A love of running mission critical systems: our team makes changes that affect the whole kit & caboodle
    • Patience and understanding of how company size affects the strategy of building systems and tooling
    • Experience working in and/or prepping for global roll out OR an intense desire to learn on the job
    • A strong sense of ownership: You strive for deep understanding, build the appropriate solution to get the job done, and iterate quickly to deliver high impact results.
    • A team mentality: You recognize that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, appreciate collaboration, and play a key role to make the company win.
