Job Description

In this role, you will be planning and creating product coverage automation and building out test infrastructure to expand and improve automation across Windows, OSX, and Linux. You will be writing tests that live in the full stack, from platform to client UI. You will become fluent in our testing platforms. This role is very collaborative and you will be partnering with feature teams and scrum teams to make the right decisions for balancing unit-level and integration automation with end-to-end automation.

Some of the things you'll be doing include:

  • Test strategy planning for release endgames as we move to continuous integration and continuous deployment.
  • Test automation planning: designing user scenarios to be covered, equivalence class partitioning for test cases, etc.
  • Identifying opportunities for test case improvements and optimizations, including new and existing test frameworks and automation, to ensure we always deliver the highest quality experience to our customers.
  • Test case automation implementation.
  • Being an ambassador for quality within the entire dev organization, working with feature teams and developers to broaden and improve test coverage and robustness.

Who you are:

  • Experienced. You have at least five years of experience testing software, including writing test cases and tools in an object oriented programming language. You understand what it takes to create software that is used by thousands or millions of people.
  • Highly Technical. You love writing things that “just work” – things that are robust, scalable and that perform well. You have excellent command of languages such as C++, C#, Java, and Python, and have demonstrated the ability to come up to speed quickly on new technologies. You have strong knowledge of development and test tools and you are well-versed in object-oriented design in Python and/or Java.
  • Passionate about Quality. A love of testing, tuning, and analysis through a rigorous scientific approach. You are passionate about creating a delightful user experience.
  • Team Player. You enjoy collaborating with, learning from, and teaching others so we all can become better. You assume the good intent in others, and do your part to create a positive work environment.
  • Customer Focused. You want to learn about customers, their challenges and scenarios, and you find satisfaction in shipping quality products that delight customers. You are not satisfied thinking about how the product does work; you also consider how it should work.
  • Educated. Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • You are a Recruiter! Tableau hires company builders and, in this role, you will be asked to be on the constant lookout for the best talent to bring onboard to help us continue to build one of the best companies in the world!
