    The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), located in Seattle, Washington, is part of a dynamic collaboration among three organizations known nationally and internationally for their patient care and research: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Washington, and Seattle Children's.     Responsibilities

    The SDET, Software Development Engineer in Test is responsible for designing, building and maintaining an automated test infrastructure for the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) as well as guiding test strategy and plans for related Business Intelligence solutions. The SDET creates high quality, maintainable, and performant code for automated test cases within the automated testing framework. As a member of the development team, the SDET will participate in daily and weekly meetings to execute and coordinate testing efforts. They will work with the development and clinical analytics teams as well as business SMEs to create and implement an overall testing strategy and structured data quality program.

    Responsibilities will include:

    • Review industry standard tools and implement an automated software testing solution
    • Lead automation efforts, exploring new tools and methodologies
    • Analyze user requirements to derive testing requirements then design, author and execute test cases for unit, functional, and performance testing
    • Review source code for potential problems to reproduce, debug, and isolate problems and verify fixes
    • Assist in assessing product quality and release readiness
    • Analyze testing and bug patterns to improve overall quality of the product by providing feedback to the team
    • Create well-written bug reports that provide accurate and concise information to other team members that result in swift resolution
    • Log, track, and verify resolution of software and specification defects

    The ideal candidate will show willingness to: work collaboratively with other teams and business partners; communicate and resolve issues and questions during the development, testing, and roll-out of BI solutions with minimal operational disruptions and high data integrity as well as work on multiple projects in parallel and learn from and mentor other team members.

    This position resides within the SCCA BI and Advanced Analytics department.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • BS/BA in Computer Science or similar degree with 5+ years of industry experience in software or EDW quality assurance, with an emphasis on the build-out of test automation
    • Strong u nderstand ing of industry testing methodologies, tools and best practices relating to software or EDW testing/test automation
    • Familiarity with data warehouse and business intelligence design principals
    • Must understand and have experience in all phases of testing - Unit, Functional, Configuration, System Integration and User Acceptance testing
    • Hands-on experience conducting and leading automated testing efforts
    • Experience authoring automated tests and using automated testing tools: MS Test, Selenium, QUnit, NUnit, etc.
    • Ability to work independently and to adapt to new and changing technologies
    • Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing
    • Ability to meet tight time lines, work in fast paced environment, manage changing priorities, problem solve, and balance multiple tasks simultaneously is essential
    • Possesses analytical skills, intellectual curiosity, perseverance and a creative mindset
    • Must be a self-starter who is an excellent communicator, able to work with a diverse team, and able and willing to understand multiple systems and technologies

    Desired:

    • Understanding of HIPAA regulations
    • Familiarity with diverse kinds of healthcare and/or clinical data
    • Experience with Epic healthcare system
    • Programming skills in PowerShell, C#, and/or VBscript
    • Strong understanding of Visual Studio Solutions and Projects
    • Familiarity with the Systems/Software Development Life Cycle
    • Experience with Agile software development, preferably Scrum
