POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
  • Teaching Associate
  • Full-time, 12-month (July 1-June 30) academic position on a yearly appointment and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms
  • Be a member of the Cardiothoracic Surgery multidisciplinary team that includes physicians, fellows, residents, and RNs providing intensive care services to patients and families
  • The CTICU APP team provides 24/7 care for critically ill cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgical patients in a fast paced, high acuity unit including the care of ECMO patients and patients with mechanical circulatory support devices
  • Successful candidate will be responsible for providing independent and collaborative patient management from admission to the CTICU through transfer of care to the acute care setting
    PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work on a dedicated cardiothoracic inter-professional team with other established APPs. critical care physicians and cardiothoracic surgeons in addition to the multidisciplinary team.
  • Perform bedside ICU and Acute Care procedures
  • Provide care for critically ill cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgical patients
  • Participate in the education of nursing and resident staff
  • Participate in quality improvement projects and process improvement activities for the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery
    Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current and valid state Registered Nurse Licensure for ARNP or Physician Assistant licensure for PA-C
  • Graduate Degree from and accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or accredited Physician Assistant Program
  • Nationally certified ARNP/PA with DEA
  • Proven excellence working in an interdisciplinary collaborative team environment
  • Effective interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and clinical expertise in critical care and the care of cardiothoracic surgical patients.
  • ACLS Certification
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Basic computer knowledge and command of basic personal computer skills
