POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

Teaching Associate

Full-time, 12-month (July 1-June 30) academic position on a yearly appointment and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms

Be a member of the Cardiothoracic Surgery multidisciplinary team that includes physicians, fellows, residents, and RNs providing intensive care services to patients and families

The CTICU APP team provides 24/7 care for critically ill cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgical patients in a fast paced, high acuity unit including the care of ECMO patients and patients with mechanical circulatory support devices

Successful candidate will be responsible for providing independent and collaborative patient management from admission to the CTICU through transfer of care to the acute care setting
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Work on a dedicated cardiothoracic inter-professional team with other established APPs. critical care physicians and cardiothoracic surgeons in addition to the multidisciplinary team.

Perform bedside ICU and Acute Care procedures

Provide care for critically ill cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgical patients

Participate in the education of nursing and resident staff

Participate in quality improvement projects and process improvement activities for the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery
Minimum Qualifications:

Current and valid state Registered Nurse Licensure for ARNP or Physician Assistant licensure for PA-C

Graduate Degree from and accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or accredited Physician Assistant Program

Nationally certified ARNP/PA with DEA

Proven excellence working in an interdisciplinary collaborative team environment

Effective interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and clinical expertise in critical care and the care of cardiothoracic surgical patients.

ACLS Certification

Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing

Basic computer knowledge and command of basic personal computer skills
