SmartThings is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Security Engineer to join our team. SmartThings cloud architecture is also evolving rapidly with growth of its user base, partner integrations and new features. The Security Engineer will support our ecosystem, its expansion, migration to microservices architecture and growing list of new features to ensure assets of SmartThings and its users are protected at all times.

Responsibilities:

• Provide subject matter expertise and enhance the security posture of corporate infrastructure and tools
• Develop and implement security controls that are effective in cloud-based and distributed architectures
• Ensure necessary security controls and requirements are understood at design time and that secure development practices are in place and meet the needs of developers
• Assess the appropriateness and effectiveness of security measures and recommend enhancements
• Evaluate and rollout new technologies for securing the enterprise around: hardware, networks, encryption, identity and access management, endpoint management, certificate management
• Evaluate security response methodologies to ensure quick, thorough reaction to security threats

Requirements:

• 8+ years of experience in enterprise/corporate IT operations with increasing focus on security
• Knowledge of security principles, techniques, and technologies
• Experience with developing and/or recommending security controls for cloud environments
• Experience administering LDAP, Active Directory, VPN's, and Access Control Solutions
• Ability to create system security defensive strategies for a fast paced, engineering driven environment
• Background in a variety of security and cloud technologies (authentication and authorization systems, networking infrastructure, virtualization and containerization)
• Integration of capability into development pipelines/continuous integration

Desired:

• Scripting/Programming Skills (Powershell, Python, Java, Rust, etc.)
• Experience in configuration hardening, assessment, and forensics with Windows/Linux servers
• Understanding of IoT and wireless communications (WiFi, Zigbee, Z-Wave)
